Can't blame blokes from the GV wanting to escape the cow paddocks and play a better standard of footy.
Heard a rumour of Ky offering 2k a game to a Rovers player recently, so the money is thrown around both ways. Difference is good O&M players don't see the appeal of the less professional GV set up.

I'll think if it's not successful, they'll have the same problem in 2025, blokes won't travel back from geelong to get pumped by 20 goals.

They had to go hard and get the best 10-12 guys under 25 from Tallangattta, o&sk and Hume to build from as well awilson, bradtke and one big name, and I think they'd be okay, I'm worried it's a one year special

This is spot on, Corowa had to go all out, they still appear to have a conservative approach. They need to throw caution to the wind, go all out, this year is all about momentum, 20 goal thumping’s mid July won’t get that wheel turning. I will say they do seem to be getting close to fielding two sides, that’s something.

How many Clubs in the O and M got extra points for next Season
Raiders, Na and Myrt all get 46,Corowa 60 and an extra $25,000 to splurge. Magpies back to 40 from 38. Incredible to think the league considered giving Yarrawonga extra points when the points system was introduced due to “population disadvantage”. I think the biggest disadvantage is having neighbouring clubs so close by, constantly sniffing your crop. NA jammed between two bottomless money pits, Lavington have been pretty disappointing considering.

I’ve been told to keep an eye out for a newspaper article this week or possibly next weekend. Something around player payments in country footy.
There’s an article on code sports. Not sure if that’s the one you’re referring to head. I’m too tight to subscribe so I can only read the headline.

In Herald-Sun, think they've picked it up from Weekly Times, but got some interesting stuff in there. The things that caught me eye were GF audits not finished yet.
I reckon it goes to the lack of resourcing at AFL Vic, some staff turnover in a few places.
Clubs were spending $350k before cap came in, some might be doing that with 3rd party deals.
AFL Vic bloke says cap staying

looks like there will be three clear divisions next season
Top
Albury
Wang
yarra

Middle
Doggies
Rovers
North

Bottom
Raiders
Myrt
Lavi
Corowa.

If raiders can sign Matherson they jump into the middle bracket, I don't think McDonald-tipungwuti with be as effective.

Christie & T.Murray massive outs... and last season they were along way off. The big contingent of travellers isn't the answer
Christie only played a small handful of games, hardly a notable loss. I’d be happy to publicly lay down $10,000 on the Rovers to win it next year, there’s unfinished business and a steely look in the coaches eyes. The core group are experienced, but I’d expect to see something similar to the baby Bombers class of 93. There’s some serious eyases who are about to take flight, the critics will be quelled in the opening month.

think they can make up 80 points on Yarra & Maggies?

Christie signed and playing. Add in McDonagh and Jorgenson, plus Cattapan, Allison, as well as one more that is apparently in the wings, then surely they would have to be stronger than last season. I think the real win will be Jorgenson up forward allowing Tom Boyd to play permanently at CHB. Murray also needs to run through the guts more often you would think if they are going to compete with the top 3 sides regularly.

Also hearing from someone on the inner at Corowa that numbers on the track have dropped off considerably already after a couple of weeks. Geez I hope they can get up for next season, but from what we have seen so far it looks like they are going to struggle to put a team on the park that could compete in the TDFL or O&K
