Citeh wont win anything. Not even a league cup. They always were and always will be the team who snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. And we love them all the more for it.

When Ronaldo goes to Real in Jan, Manure will fall off the pace, and Man City will buy Wayne Rooneh for 75m in Jan.

Manure will be relegated with Tottenham and Everton

Shhh, don't tell anyone. :p

If Tottenham can win the league cup anyone can. :thumbsu:

Well, it did help Chelsea win two league titles in a row and IMO will make it 3 come May 2009.

If Chelsea win this year's title, it'll be #4 for them.

I can't help but think Liverpool will be like Arsenal last season and fall off the pace towards the home end. Manure will eventually really start pushing the top two anyway as they have far too much quality not to do so.

The one difference between Liverpool this season and Arsenal last season is that Liverpool's side is a more physically mature one. They should be able to keep their challenge going for longer. The only question mark for them is how good their depth is if they go into the final months challenging in Europe and in the FA Cup.

Despite the result this morning the answer is still 10.

Liverpool in 4th is like North Melbourne in 4th. They think they're close but they're oh so far away.

Shaddup. This might just be the year for Liverpool...and therefore obviously North will win the 2009 Premiership :thumbsu:

We are so getting knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round by Mansfield. :p

Well, perhaps we should get knocked out of the FA Cup and the League Cup, because we'll definitely be pushing deep into Europe and of course the league.

Going deep into the League Cup probably doesn't affect a team as much as it's all finished by the start of March. And you can simply play kids, fringe players, and players returning from injury.

It's the FA Cup that drains a team's resources as you're still playing those extra games late into the season. United wouldn't not have won the Premiership-Champions League double if Portsmouth didn't knock us out of the FA Cup. Manchester United and Chelsea would have the best depth out of the Premiership clubs. At the end of 2007/08, United (and for that matter, Chelsea) were still playing good football. But in 2006/07 when both United and Chelsea had made it to the FA Cup final, the semis of the Champions League, and were fighting it out for the title - both sides looked mentally and physically exhausted.

Well yeah, but there's also an argument that success in one competition has a knock-on effect in others. Gives teams the self-belief that they might be lacking if they face defeat elsewhere. Look at the treble year, by the end of that some of the fellas were on their last legs... if we were looking for the physical edge we'd have been better off if Arse had won the FA cup semi, preferably at the first attempt to avoid that punishing replay, whereas you'd have to say in the long run that that semi win (and Giggs's goal) was such an important part of the treble win.

Even last year, we needed the push we got from knocking out Barça to get us over the line in the league... and I'd also add that thumping Arsenal in the cup was crucial to knocking them out of the league title race.

I agree. I think were far more physically mature and experienced to hopefully prolong our title tilt than Arsenal last season. Were not a team of kid's and we have genuine quality and experience in all positions. Depth will be a question mark if we also go deep into Europe which I expect us too.

We have depth in central midfield but were a little thin at RB, were thin in wide areas and we cant rely on N'Gog or Nemeth/Pacheco to win us games. So Torres, Keane and Kuyt must score goals and stay fit.

6.

They need to copy the Chelsea model and it will take 2-3 years..I am not sure Hughes is the manager for the job..but I like the scum's chances.

They have a good foundation set, but lack serious depth in talent. From January onwards need to spend money wisely on quality, and not every FM star.:p

They could do with David Villa, they also need a quality CM + CB. Long way to go..

Oh so cocky moomba :) Don't think it will happen. Agree that Liverpool need to do it before the money that Man Shitey has acquired kicks in.

I'm not holding my breath to be honest...while we have shown glimpses of title quality, over the last 3 or so years (in particular), thats all they've been...glimpses

All we ever do is give ourselves hope in month 1/2, then throw it away over november and the christmas period, only to mount a late run when were already 20 points off the pace. If, and only if, we are there or there abouts in Feb will i think we have even the slightest chance.

Its much healthier to expect the worst than get shafted by a christmas hangover while holding onto delusions of grandeur (kinda like spurs fans would now be...except swap november and christmas to november-may)

The way i look at it is we probably have the next 2 years as our window of opportunity, and if City keep spending 30+ mil on players, we, without a loaded foreign invester, will be left behind

Its going to be a lot harder for City then it was Chelsea. When Roman came Chelsea already had a strong team with two players in particular (Lampard and Terry) that a side could be built around. City have some good players and Robinho is obviously a great start but it will take them a while to get to the top if in fact they do. Very much doubt Liverpool or City will win a title in the next few seasons but I think Liverpool have a better chance

If Liverpool are going to win this contest, they will need to win the EPL within the next 3-4 years. Within two years Man City will be a top 4 side and with a few more years experience will be definate contenders year in year out like Chelsea.

Its 50/50 IMO...

A few typos and grammatical errors but the gist of the post made sense.

That sums up most of my posts from 12 years ago.
