Opinion On current form what is Jack Crisp actually worth?

What does his form spell for Macaffer? Will Macaffer have to try and regain his form in the forward line, where I think most of us can agree he was more beneficial to the team anyway? Interesting times ahead when he's back in the VFL...

Good question.

With Greenwood, De Goey, Sidebum etc are all out of the side; we're blessed with a good problem to have i.e. we run very deep in the engine room.

Would the Caff be getting nervous?

As for Crisp, I'm conflicted by how much I love the guy. One man should not feel that way towards another. :)

Just love this kid. Has Luke Ball's hardness and grunt, plus size, plus speed, plus clean disposal, plus kicks goals, plus loves his footy, plus plus effin plus! Credit to Jack and to our development crew, both having turned this rough diamond into a gem.

Plus got engaged to a lifelong Collingwood supporter a few weeks ago.

The lad is invested :p

Crisp is what we were missing the last couple of years, he brings what we lost with Luke Ball but has so much more with break away speed and can deliver great and a better finisher.

We pretty much get Beams replacement in him alone, when you consider what else we got as well it is pure gold we can rub this in to the lions for years to come.

Imagine how the bloke feels, coming from that rabble playing in front of crappy crowds..to coming to us and playing in games like Anzac day with 90,000 in the crowd then smashing our rivals the next week in front of 75,000 and playing a starring role.

Any young recruits we go for from GWS or GC should be shown a Jack Crisp case study haha

Not only coming from a rabble, but seeing that they are even more of a rabble this year than they were last after all the so-called improvement (although that was largely media driven and conveniently overlooked them getting belted by 10-15 goals every other week in 2014).

The real plus with Crispy is that he's a *much* bigger body than anyone else we have out there and is fine getting his hands dirty at the stoppages.

Just the amount of space the kid takes up and him being so strong through the hips makes him a much more effective blocker and allows him to stand up in tackles and still have a chance of moving the ball on, instead of just being rag-dolled to the ground every time.

And to think he probably doesn't really have the midfield setups down pat and probably has another pre-season or two before his physical development is complete.

Even now I can't see him being pushed out of our best 22 even when we have a full list to pick from - in the space of 6 months he's leap-frogged guys we've had on the list for years and is a poster boy for taking grabbing your opportunity with both hands when given a chance (if blokes like Broomhead, Kennedy, Patty K, The Ox and even our more recent draft picks follow his example then there are exciting times ahead).

I keep thinking whats wrong with him? why did the Bears let him go, reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when his girlfriend only looked good in certain light, waiting for the bad light to come!

I think time will say that Greenwood, Crisp & Degoey trade for Beams will turn out to be the trade of the century!

Draft pick numbers mean nothing. He is a success on the field, and therefore beyond price. In the same category as Oxley, who was chosen late, but is clearly a regular senior player. A keeper.

I am not sure who made the decision to ask for Crisp in the Beams trade whether it be Hine or Bucks or someone else at the club, but what an inspired decision.

I have to be honest and thought he would be a list clogger. Sorry Crispy, I was wrong.

Caff is very good defensively, there's probably a role for him in the team somewhere if he wants it, interestingly he played as a full forward in his younger years, could possibly play him forward, good size at 188cm and 92kgs

Edit: only a couple cm smaller than Crameri if that's any idication

Hopefully he is worth about 300k on a few year contract.

He is bringing what Beamo brought at a fraction of the cost:)

Sign him up for an extension now.

Maybe he could. But he has never been that good when played in defence. And he played a purple patch up forward for half a season but never replicated that form again hence the move to a tagger.

That is true, but Buckleys team is based on pressure and Caff potentially could provide a lot of defensive pressure, it'll be interesting to see what happens
