Squiggle tips Saints at 51% chance -- What's your tip? -- Team line-ups »
Can you show me where you had these opinions of Hartlett and DBJ before the start of the 2021 season?
Everything is easy in hindsight.
If I remember correctly you were yet another who wanted Ollie's head last year.
I am not an apologist for the club but sometimes we have to accept things dont work out as we expect.
As the great Neil Diamond once quoted "I am I said"
So you were not critical of Ollie? You don’t remember correctly, in fact you just pulled that out your arse.
If you’re so interested in where I’ve said it before, go look.
I came here to pretty much say this. It’s time to acknowledge your 7 stages of grief Sleezy. Jonas isn’t my pick for next year but he’s done well the past couple of years. Belittling our squad isn’t going to make you or them feel any better.Okay it is time to start calling some of this out.
Yes Saturday night was unbelievably poor but some of your comments are completely over the Top and show how ignorant you are.
You could well be right in terms of not everyone is a leader.
You literally assassinate virtually every person in your post.
The laugh is, the one you pump up, you wanted out of the club 12 months ago.
Make constructive comments you dont have to personalize things and refer to our players as lazy, soft, squibs, party boys when the reality is you know nothing about them other than what you see on a football field.
The amount of bravery I see by posters on here is mind blowing.
There is not one player you would walk up to, and say what you have posted, to their face.
Wines captain no question, as far as anyone else toss a coin, that is the problem this squad has had for years, complete lack of on field leadership.
We seriously need to look at recruiting an experience player with real leadership quality ala Luke Hodge at Brisbane.
Maybe we have to show a bit of faith in DBJ, he had a shocking year but taking away the leadership role isn’t going to help.

Just can't develop leaders nor top level stars.

Nope, in the crunch games the experienced players are the ones who don't stand up been happening for years even pre Hinkley.
Our Current Leadership Group:
Captain - Jonas
Vice-Captain - Wines
Leadership Group - Hartlett
Leadership Group - Darcy Byrne-Jones
Jonas - Since taking over as captain, the club has changed from being wildly inconsistent to being consistently the fourth or fifth best team. Will beat who we should beat, and show significant heart in doing so under trying circumstances, and capitulate against a team that works as hard as us and has the talent to match us in the contest. The Hinkley of captains: able to get us to a certain level of professionalism and consistency, but unable to take us all the way.
His form no longer warrants automatic selection. His best is uncompromising, his worst is SPP level commitment to the contest at the expense of holding defensive position. Has lost a yard of pace and can no longer go with his ideal match-ups, the resting mids (Dusty, Bont, Petracca).
Wines - Since being given the co-captaincy before it was deserved, and having it rightfully stripped away as the abysmal failure it was always going to be, has grown up, and grown into the player and leader we always knew he could be. The heir apparent. Needs to work on his slow starts to games, and being primed form the first bounce. The only mid who was able to fight their way into the game on Saturday, so deserves a little credit for that.
Hartlett - Delisted.
Darcy Byrne-Jones - Has regressed from an elite sweeping half back to lazy, soft, one way running, hack-kicking flake. In no way a leader, and should be on the trade table. Out DBJ, in Dawson would be a massive, massive upgrade.
Our Future Leadership Group:
Captain - Wines
Vice Captain - ???
Leadership Group Members - ???
The contenders:
Karl Amon - A leader in the indigenous players community already. The question is, can he stand up in games against the top 4? I'm not sure he can. At this stage, is too easily shut down.
Ryan Burton - Played like a leader in R23 & the QF, but squibbed in the PF. I expect big things from Burton, but he hasn't earned it yet. Feel like, from the outside, he is a player that could grow into the role.
Aliir Aliir - Similar to Burton, played like a leader in the lead up to the PF, and then was beaten badly. Given his confidence issues and problems with disposal i feel the opposite about Aliir - if forced into a leadership position he could regress as DBJ has done. Leave him to play his game.
Houston - His name gets floated a lot, but I just don't see it. Party boy. Not a standard setter. No thanks.
The Forwards - There are only two forwards on our list that could remotely be considered for a leadership group role (Gray & Dixon) and both are in the last year or two of their careers. That is an indictment on the club.
The Youngsters - The two that jump out to me are Drew & Duursma. Effort and team care are never the question with these two, but they are too young for this kind of responsibility.
So who are our leaders for the future? Is it just Wines? I cant see anyone else ready to step up, and that's a big, big problem.
Wines captain, Boak vice. We don’t have anyone else.
No current season stats available
Jonas' form fluctuations rule him out as being skipper if we are serious, I have no confidence we are.
