Adelaide, Sydney, Perth stadiums are not 'significantly smaller'.

    They are:

Adelaide:45%? smaller capacity so increase ticket prices by 45%
Sydney: 20%? smaller capacity so increase ticket prices by 20%
Perth: 35%? smaller capacity so increase ticket prices by 35%

    It's not rocket science

Richmond and Adelaide got around 15 000 each
Around 15 000 for corporates (nuetrals)
Around another 50 000 for afl (Richmond) members and mcc (Victorians) who would have a hell of a lot of Richmond fans among them
    70 / 30 Richmonds way

Doesn't just go for Victorian teams.

Teams like us who play at Etihad also suck at the MCG.

There's only a couple of thousand Richmond AFL members, the rest are neutrals.

Source please. It was mentioned during the telecast Richmond had approx 70% crowd support.
Richmond also have over 70 000 members so I would think they would gobble up almost all of the AFL members seat allocation also. A luxury only afforded to people who live in Melbourne

Wow. I'm not an economist by any means, but even I know that's not how it works.

Supporters of other Vic teams, especially Big4, barracking for the Tigers in the GF? Apart from the #vicbias chip on WA's shoulders, could you imagine all the Freo supporters going for West Coast on the big day? Yeah nah.

Richmond membership and AFL membership are unrelated. You don't just go in on the day and buy an AFL membership ticket. There would have been a LOT of neutrals and others that HATE Richmond with a passion in the AFL member crowd.

Naturally it would have sounded like we had 70% crowd support because we're the loudest and most passionate supporters.

Afl members who nominated Richmond as their club get preferred seating. Lots of Richmond members means lots of Richmond AFL members. Plenty of richmond mcc members also.
If you live in Adelaide you get access to around 15 000 tickets
If you live in Victoria you get access to around 70 000 tickets.
Claiming it's 50/50 is just bs

the problem doesn't seem to be just the GF being in melbourne but more the MCC members and such making it a giant problem for fair allocation, is this correct?

Take the mcc and 'AFL' members out and the grand final can be played anywhere

Richmond haven't been 'Big 4' on the field for almost four decades. Plenty of younger fans have only known them as a basketcase that posed no threat to their success and would have been happy to support the local 'underdog'.

Because supply and demand rarely results in a linear equation.

Do you know if you cut the crowd by 50%, the other 50% have to pay 100% extra to cover?

Alright so the percentages of the ticket increase are wrong. The theory is still solid.

    Adelaide 90% increase
    Sydney 40% increase
    Perth 70% increase

So if you move it to perth and we have to pay three times the price we are still saving

Then you get fans complaining that it's getting too expensive. The AFL can't win. There are contracts in place that can't just be broken.

The easiest solution is to not join a league which has played their grand final in Victoria for 100 years prior.
