It's an interesting squad, some strange inclusions.
I can't quite settle in my head what our best one day side looks like, but I'd be inclined to look at something like this:
1. Shane Watson: No reason needed. Best bat and probably best bowler.
2. Tim Paine (k): Goodbye Haddin after three missed stumpings. Not good enough at this standard off guys who just spin the ball. Paine is a good batsman who I imagine would bat well with Watson.
3. Brad Hodge: Put simply, he is Australia's best one day batsman. Therefore, he bats at three in our national side. Is that so hard you ****wit selectors?
4. Michael Clarke: Very good batsman who will excel in India.
5. Ricky Ponting (c): Opposition teams would hate the though of Ponting coming in at 5. Must be 100% fit though.
6. Mike Hussey: Our most level headed and technically correct batsman. Hits boundaries without too much risk. Must be 100% fit though
7. Cam White: Will be important in the middle overs with good running and shot placement. Also can muscle boundaries.
8. James Hopes: How has he been forgotten? Such a good cricketer in this format. Averages 25 with the bat at a SR of 93. Good bowler, more economical than Johnson. Good foil for Lee and Tait's pace.
9. Nathan Hauritz/Xavier Doherty: Best spinners we have and therefore one must play.
10. Brett Lee: Best fit one day quick.
11. Shaun Tait: Will win us games single-handedly, but also lose us some. You take the risk.
12. Mitchell Johnson: Would prefer a fit Starc or McKay, but Johnson it is. Would sometimes play before Hopes depending on the wicket.
13. Nathan Hauritz/ Xavier Doherty: Need a proper back up spinner in the squad and both these guys should go.
14. Callum Ferguson/ Aaron Finch: Both good young one day bats. Should tour before Steve Smith.
15. Matthew Wade : Need a back up keeper I feel. Good bat as well.
