This sort of dissappeared down the page and I thought some of you might be interested... besides I love niggling Carlton fans....
An interesting stat in that Carlton have only really got into the Premiership race since 1968 - ie: the money-bags era.
Prior to 68 they were a club with a very average history - hadn't won a flag for 21 years and only 3 since 1916! At the time they were 5 (count em) 5 flags behind Collingwood and 4 behind both Essendon and Melbourne.
Interesting, is it not, that in the era most associated with chequebook premierships (ie: the 70s to the early 90's) the baggers hit paydirt wining 8 (!) flags between 68 and 95 (68,70,72,79,81,82,87,95)
This is why everyone hates them. On reflection, it almost makes you feel sorry for Collingwood supporters.
How's that for some stats Danny Boy?
Dutch
PS. Thankfully, in the absence of "the chequebook" and in these post-draft times, I think I can see a team that will (hopefully) again "bring balance to the force"...
