One month on - how are you feeling?

Lids, Settle down mate. You guys did extremely well to win nearly every game in the home and away series. However, you don't understand that the cats took the hawks lightly, thinking that they were port adelaide.
You guys have to win where it matters the most and that is in the GF. Geelong did in 2007 but they didn't back it up again like most of you cats fans thought they would.

Most of 'Lids' post is so wide of the mark it's not worth the effort responding to 's2c'. I just wish the few of our supporters who keep whining would give credit where it's due and move on.

Just remember schwabbie, we're comin ta get ya in 2009!!!!!!!

I'm okay now, just can't wait for next year to start and get over this year, I just try not to think about it. I wore my Geelong guernsey when I went for a run yesterday. >_>.

Absolute bullshit!. You of all people should give the Hawks some credit. You're making it sound like the only reason they won is because the cats didn't take them seriously. I can tell you that round 17 showed just how close these 2 teams are to eachother. Sure the number of blatent misses by the cats forwards in the GF probably made the margin look better for Hawthorn but I take nothing away from them, they will be very hard to beat in '09.

Nice work.

I did see snippets of the GF for the first time in the AFL store the other weekend. The young lass at the counter had sympathy for me, but was more amazed that i went to the game, being in WA.

I'm just about to grab some new merchandise items, so i must be goin' ok :)

LOL at some people on this Thread!
I still think Hawthorn are the Benchmark and the gap is barely anything between the two Teams, but we do have that slight Upper Hand on the Hawks.
I'm not whining, I'm just making a point that will be important next year. I'm really looking forward to what should be a fantastic 2009!
To all our hard working boys that put in 999999999999999999% week in, week out, good luck and lets hope we can bounce back!
Go the Mighty Catters for 2009!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Firstly, where did I say I didn't like it here?

Secondly, of course you can be biased, I am glad you are admitting it, but I am also allowed to call you out on it.

Thirdly, winning the premiership does make Hawthorn the best team of 2008, thats how the AFL decide it, sorry. I'm not here claiming we are the best team of the lot, just questioning the claims you are putting forward that Geelong are.

Fourthly, if we are a team that relies on a couple of players like you claim, how did we manage to win the Premiership against, as you put it, 'a star-studded team which is physically stronger and maturer', without Buddy, Roughead, Mitchell or Croad having a real influence?

Finally, I'm not trolling, I've given it a month before really turning up in here, its just some off-season banter. I'm not attacking Geelong, their players or their supporters (except you!) :thumbsu:

It seems you are in denial that the Grand Final ever took place.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying, including that; that Hawthorn will be the Team to Beat in 2009 and the Benchmark, but I still think we are a slightly better side. :thumbsu:
However, I disagree that one game can change everything. Hawthorn may now be the Benchmark and the Team to Beat, but we are still slightly better than Hawthorn.
Don't worry though, you've Won the Premiership in 2008 and will overtake us in about 2010!
I must say though, Well Done Hawks, you totally outclassed us and you Deserved your Premiership! :thumbsu:

It's not absolute bullshit. Hawthorn have got the credit as they won the premiership. Geelong - well took us lightly. In fact you took us too lightly that it caused you guys to kick yourselves out of the game. This is where you guys lost it. If you had of lost a couple more games in the H & A season you would have beaten us. Also if you guys had of kicked goals rather than all those points you would have beaten us.

We will have to see if the younger brigade from your team can actually keep up their great skills and awesome winning form.

Overall im good, but i still get a little pissed off when i see Hawks scarfs in the back of cars or on the dashboard (thats where my Cats one should be you b@stards!!!).

Its cricket season now, and my frustration with Geelong is now replaced with frustration towards Shane Watson and what the hell is he doing in this test side??????????? He probably goes for bl00dy Hawthorn to

o

Drove into work the other day, and saw a car with not one, not two, not three, but FIVE mother ****ing hawks stickers on the back of his car. Talk about going OTT.

Took all my self control not to let down his tyres.

I keep it classy and have one premiership sticker and one membership sticker. :thumbsu:

Do you also believe that the cats players took the hawks too lightly in the grand final?.

What the schwabb-man says makes no sense: Geelong took the hawks too lightly and so they kicked too many points...my god how about you just admit that the hawks backline did a fantastic job and showed the cats forwards for what they are....average (apologies to Stevie J & Chapman).

In the weeks preceeding the grand final the cats won games on sheer weight of forward 50 entries, that and our fantastic defence limited the scoring of other teams but the forward line has been misfiring for a while.

The cats kicked so many points because the ones that kicked those points are shit kicks!. Mooney is like watching Richo, if he has a bad day he will miss almost everything even from a couple of metres out. Ottens is a wonderful straight kick but that doesn't mean he kicks them in the right direction and I'm not at all suprised he missed from 5 metres out.
Lastly the hawks rushed about 9 behinds...this was a brilliant tactic by Clarkson and between that and Luke Hodge playing a fantastic game won you guys a premiership, we were outcoached and outplayed. It's a horrible feeling when you lose a game having more scoring shots but to lose a grand final that way is just heartbreaking.

I don't think for a second that ANY of the cats boys thought they had it in the bag before they ran out on that ground, they came unstuck because they had no answer for the tactics used by the hawks.

At least you don't have to put up with coming out of your street with this shit up:

Atleast now the cats won't be expected to win the flag as much (even if they win every game of the season) which will take a bit of pressure off.

They'll be fighting for their lives, almost literally in 2009 & it won't do the younger players of the cats any harm by losing a premiership, they might now apreciate what it is to win a premiership.

Being the underdog will be a good position for the cats to be in, with all expectations of them winning the flag gone, I think the best of Geelong is yet to be seen and we'll see it in 09.

As disappointing as it was, it may be the best thing for this Geelong team's ongoing success. And by the way, if you jump of the cats now, you've got NO RIGHT jumping back on when they win their next flag !!
