sorry i realise the thread is closed but have been all day to get back from work to ask this, how has he gone in the previous Best and Fairest for us, surely this will show how much the clubs respects his role...

just from this weeks game he had 30 odd possys yet from AFL 360 tonight he didnt get a vote from the coaches and to me it was a typical stanton game, Ryder got a vote and i didnt think he was deserving.

Top 5 every year since 2005 (his second year).

It was posted in the other thread, can't recall his finishes off the top of my head. Last year was particularly impressive, given his back was ****ed from early in the year.

Brent Stanton would currently be top three in the Crichton. Some people just can't help but complain about something, but at least some 'supporters' actually support their own team... I think we have a few new supporters from Richmond by the sounds of all the negativity.

damn that backfired, shoukd have done my research which I have done now. last year shouldn't matter anyway, It's a wonder Ben Doolan didnt win it last year considering how bad we were, anyway Stants finished approximately 300+ points behind jobe for the best and fairest. 2009 I'll give him considering we finished in finals and he came 3rd i think.

Hopefully a proper coaching staff can vote accordingly to their coaching IQ, unlike the previous panel who would reward non defensive forward running receivers because it was the stle of play that was going to take us to our next premiership, oh wait we finished 3rd last (lost to the bottom sides in brissy and west coast) and in turn they were sacked.

So 30+ possy, apparently only 2 were clangers and he doesnt receive coaches MVP votes from 2 coaches. Paddy Ryder kicks what 2 goals doesnt do much else yet gets a vote, enough said....

As for being tagged richmond supporter, you kidding me mate. Watching my team last year was bad enough let alon experiencing that for the past 30 years. Have a look at my post sticking up for Spike.

Big fan of the Big bell, Crameri, Zahar, Jetta, Hurley, Heppell, Hocking, Hardingham, Pears, Fletch, Hille...if only we could find a soloman/hardwick/M.Johnson for our backline to toughen us up...

Go to the votes thread and the coaches votes are posted.

Can't work out how Ryder or Monfries got votes - Dont understand how Jetta missed out.

Then again the coaches votes for Round 5 were spot on.

And our mate H.Shaw was voted third best player.

The only knock you can have on Stants is he drops his focus for brief moments and does something amazingly frustrating.
Stepping over the line on a kickout. getting too close to man on the mark for kicks. A silly kick to a man under pressure or an obvious intercept.

But outside of that, he will always be in the right position for an attack out of the backline and he will generally deliver the ball nicely.

I liken him to a few players we've had.
Lucas is one. Would always be solid with the exception of the odd ambitious kick or failure to dish off.
Solomon was similar. Hard at the ball but on occasion would forget it and go the man.
Rioli was the same. Capable of the sublime and stupid all at the same time.
Mercuri was similar as well. Would sometimes just try that extra bit of magic or smart-arse when it wasnt required.

Personally, i think Stanton is having a massively improved season. Kicking and decision making have improved out of sight. Would be just behind Watson and Hocking as our best mid this season.

Cough cough, surely you jest?

if there was a rule that stated that you had to be a fanatic about every single player i must have missed it.

i love my team, but if one player in particular frustrates me/or someone else on this board. who gives a ****. Its just their opinion, and if there are a number of similar posts it just shows that that opinion is not entirely uncommon.
