His name is Carman.

Carmen is an opera.
Carman was also an opera...starting off Grand, yet finishing as a Neo Classical Tragedy.
So much talent & ability...yet may have cost Collingwood the 1977 flag, falling out with Hafey, moving to 3 other clubs over 4 years, head butting an umpire...
Should have been a 100+ game Collingwood Premiership player...but finished up in Football wilderness.

Peter Daicos is a given. Was a great forward but just as good on ball in his early career. Hitting targets would not be a problem.

But if i had to choose someone who wasn't a super star it would be Craig Starasvich. Could play the third tall second ruck role these days.

if we want some one to pin point a pass to our forwards it would have to
be barry price. McKenna lick his lips every time pricey had the ball.

are jealous!
Too many players to choose from....monkhorst....brown.....pert.....rocca (both) buckley......jaimi turner
Say what? Turner? I have no words!

I don't have the inclination nor the time to do the analysis on what our precise current needs are but like many here I find it difficult to go past Daics. No other player in my memory has made opponents require toilet tissue by his mere presence within 15 metres of the ball. I loved McKenna but you wouldn't want him unless you could also have Barry Price. Millane was special as was Gavin Brown and words are hard to come by to describe what might have been with John Greening. Carman was insanely talented but was also his own worst enemy too often. In the end it has to be Daics. There is no substitute for such brilliance!

Underrated Coodabeens reference. :thumbsu::thumbsu::)
Timmy always used to call in and ask if starcevich could win the norm Smith medal. He was close to best on ground for the time he was actually on the ground which was less than half a game...started on the bench and then lights out in the third courtesy of daniher. Timmy was a genius!

I agree, played tall and small, excellent delivery, good evasion, great leadership and would free up Ben Reid to go forward as needed.
You seemed to have your eras crossed. Clement and Reid played in a grand total of one game together. In fact we had a very inflexible spine back in the day (or was it an inflexible coach). Tarrant and Rocca forward, Wakelin Presti and Clement back...never the twain

Daicos for pure excitement, the best Collingwood player I have seen, However I would go Gavin Brown if i had to take 1, Brown was a beast of a player reminds me of a cross between Trent Cotchin and Paul Kelly, he was simply the complete player inside and out.

If we are going back to players we never saw play then Bob Rose deserves a mention. When I was a kid most old timers said he was the best Collingwood player they saw play.

Thanks for mentioning Bobby. He'd certainly give Fyfe a run for his money, better overhead than GAJ and just as quick and deadly. A true ball magnet and a lovely kick on either foot. Bobby was a champion player in an era of champs and even a better man. Everyone could use a little Bobby Rose modesty and sportsmanship in their own life.

Nope, thinking of a young Clement being magically transported into the current team.
