If Smith is ruled out I'm going to lose to freaking mind.

They recently made Cummins the sole VC and took Head's official leadership position away.If Smith misses, it could be the ideal situation for Head to step-up and take on the responsibility of being the main man as he’s currently VC. Much like Smith stood up when Clarke was injured in the 14/15 series v India. He might thrive with the extra responsibility and he’s done it this year for SA when they’ve been way behind in every shield game.

Also to all you people suggesting Shaun Marsh. Please cease and desist.
Half of Adelaide will be packing their whites to go the game tomorrow if these keeps going. If Smith is out who are you going to replace him with, most likely find the badly out of form Burns would play.Would they look at the 2 players that got the tons in the 2nd innings of the Austraia A game.

Self-promotion: Paine may open with Burns in first Test
The Australia captain has left the door ajar to opening the batting himself with Joe Burns in the first Test against India, starting on Thursday.www.theage.com.au
Gut feeling is it will be Burns and Wade. Just think they will want all the experience they can get. Plus it gives a RH/LH partnership
At this stage surely Harris is in front of Burns,I would go Harris and Wade.If Burns does not play surely with no shield games on he would be better off playing with his local side and spend a long period in the middle trying to get his form and confidence back.
Given Langer's desire for stability, if we win this Test it would be hard to see anyone but Warner in for an opener for Melbourne assuming everyone stays fit. Puckovski might have to wait a bit, sometimes injuries just happen at a shit time.Gut feeling is Burns will play. Sometimes the selectors go off “gut feel” this may. We one of them. Plus if he fails will be easier to drop him and Wade for Pucovski and Warner in Melbourne

Yeah if so I would be telling marnus to get the pads on straight away....because we are effectively playing with only 10 men if Burns plays
This RH/LH is bit of a joke really...I thought you picked the best openers regardless if they are left or right...Langer and Hayden both lefties and they went alright
If the only reason Burns is getting picked is that he doesn't bat left handed......well yeah its a f****** joke
Well lets be real for 2 seconds, the two best openers we have are injured/unavailable. Harris hardly gives me hat much confidence. Least Burns HAS score test hundreds, Harris hasn't. Sort of agree with Ponting on this, Burns has shown he's capable at test level. Look would I pick him, no idea, but either option is rubbish lets be real. The RH/LH opening partnership is ideal personally.
So Warner is one of the best openers....the other is Pucoski ??? he hasn't scored a test hundred either so we discount him as well ? as Burns has scored test hundreds?
Do we ever consider Marcus Harris again or because he hasn't scored test hundreds that's it?...or just tell him to go back to shield cricket and to bat right handed because he has a better chance of getting back into the team ??
If Burns gets picked I think it makes a mockery of our shield comp and players who are in form. Also I have grave concerns about Burns well being the amount of pressure and he fails again.....that could be career ending..he needs to start again and make runs in shield cricket
We are playing India huge test match coming up.....and we are considering a bloke who is struggling to hit it off the square because the only reason is he is right handed and he scored hundreds a couple of years back ?? makes no sense to me
At this stage I have no confidence that Burns will survive a single over from Bumrah and Co let alone scoring test hundred...that's how poorly he is batting atm
Wade isn't the worst stopgap opener but I question what it means for him long term with Green presumably taking his spot at number 6?
Head vs Wade for number 5?
