Warner comes straight in for Burns. Assuming Wade keeps his spot which he should, the last spot is between Head, Harris or Pucovski. I’d probably stick with Head but I won’t mind either way. If Pucovski does come in I’d be tempted to bat him at 5 and keep Wade at the top, let the kid bat when the sting is out of the game a bit. It also means he’ll be batting with an experienced partner when he comes in.

Pucovski comes in for Head. It is pretty simple for me. As Chappelli said in a recent article, there are too many different ways to get Travis Head out. He has too many weaknesses and continually gets out the same way, which suggests he doesn't learn from his mistakes and try and work on them.

Can’t believe they are going ahead with the Sydney Test, what does this mean for the 4th test in Brisbane because they won’t be allowed into Qld from Sydney without 14 days of isolation, do they play both tests in Sydney?

Surely this has been answered by somebody at cricket Australia? Can't be that much of an oversight. Haven't heard anything though.

The bowling line-up doesn't need to be changed. They're the least of our problems.

Warner
Pucovski
Lab
Smith
Wade
Green
Paine +
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazlewood

Simple changes really, Burns and Head for Warner and Pucovski with Wade dropping down the order to 5.

QLD have given them an exemption to enter QLD, must go straight to hotel, can only leave for training and match then must stay in quarantine after game finishes.

Travis Head has a higher average at this point in his career, than Steve Waugh did and a number of more notable test names for Australia. He averages a touch under 40 and he's a baby. He stays.

Does anyone know a website that has advanced cricket stats? Had a look and can't find what I'm looking for.

And he keeps getting away the same way its just a matter of time before he knicks off

People were saying the same thing about Handscomb when he was on the precipice of being dropped. He was dropped and it was the right call then, as would be dropping Head at this point.

People when they say this also forget that Waugh got dropped, worked on his issues and got recalled. So did guys like Smith, Ponting, Martyn and Hayden off the top of my head. Why can't Head do the same?

Yeah that's what I would go as well but they will be gutless and not play Pucovski and keep .....slash it to the cordon Head

He has massive technical issues though.

Yup I remember Waugh got dropped a few times with a problem with the short ball....didn't help he was batting number 3 at the time against a good West Indian attack.....but as you say he went back worked on the issue and came back a better player. Same has to happen to Head....his technique is terrible atm there are so many ways to get him out

He struggles with the short ball ...he never plays a pull or hook ..jumps in the air and is a candidate for a catch at leg slip

Struggles against spin loves to chip it back to the bowler when set... struggles to play the sweep

slashes consistently to the cordon.... every bloody game !!!

he has issues

Joe Burns had a higher average after 19 tests, 4 tests later (2 of which he shouldn't have got) he is probably gone for good

My 11 for the next 2 tests (barring an injury I would keep the same side for the next 2 games)

Warner
Pucovski
Labushagne
Smith
Head/Wade
Greene
Paine
Starc
Cummins
Lyon
Hazelwood

Only position Im not sure on is Head/Wade.
Wade is not the future at 34, however is potentially playing better than Head.
Head however is 6yrs younger than Wade, has an average after 19 tests better than many great players we have had for Australia and Head has clearly played better in shield than Wade did.

So do you go with a player who has 3yrs left in him or a player with 10yrs left? Etiher way Im not overly fussed, would love Travis to keep playing for Aus but would also enjoy him back at the Strikers.

Yeah not sure we need to bring in another young rookie here against a team as good as India yet, Head can stay.
Is it really not worth the risk of not bringing someone in to see if it possible they can outscore the 40-50 Head will over the test?

Unlike India who debut 2 kids in the last test match against the world number 1, who then went on to dismantle us, with the 2 debutants playing very important roles.
In fact India had 6 players with 16 tests or less... they have a very good future! If we want the same we need to continue to blood the youngsters.

Yep time to look to the future
