Better bowling average than Starc, with a red ball its quite better! Yet Starc is still first choice for so many because they seem willing to accept his mediocre bowling spells like yesterday when things aren't going well as they'll play a pink ball test eventually and suddenly people think he's the greatest bowler in the world.

Starc has 253 @27.15 - that average is close & done it over longer career.

I don't think Pattinson is as skillful or accurate as the top 3. Starc can run hot & cold but offers variety with left arm & can crank it to 150km

Starc is not accurate lol. Unless he gets the inswinging Yorker to the right-hander going he's just bowling various lines and lengths all over the place. Patto is definitely a better bowler with the red ball

Parochial much? Langer seems like a bit of a tosser but as a coach, couldn’t have done much more. Took over a rabble, made them competitive, then got them winning, then retained the Ashes. Done more than enough to stick with him.

Starc is just a left handed Tait fast and eractic only thing going his way is the angle and the occasional inswinging Yorker however against competent batsman it doesn't work

Starc is a frustration at times, but his test record is better than Tait's FC record. They're not in the same ball park.

Starc had actually had his best run in tests recently, he looked way off the pace in sydney but he has actually put up very good numbers since the ashes.

I think patto at his best is better but he is injured non stop so his opportunities are of course going to be very limited even now he isnt a legit option because yet again he is injured.

Fully fit yes of course, patto was knocking over indian batting legends when he was 21.

reality is though starc will end up with a better test career, patto wont be fully fit for long from here on out i think the best we can hope for is at some point he has a little run like harris did during that 13 ashes/14 SA series where he stays fit for a year but even thats not certain.

Paine lowered his colours today but he's had a pretty good series. He must play the final test. Also who else do we give the captaincy too? Not sure we can give it to Smith or Warner, and Labs seems to be on the outer circle of the team (not sure he's leadership material)

Pattinson is still in Melbourne so the covid restrictions rule him out,Nesser is still with the group so he is the only fast bowler that can be added if a change with the fast bowlers.
