Not sure where else to put this since the 3rd Test thread is closed, but holy sh*t the overreaction to the last days play from all corners of the media has been the biggest load of histrionics and hyperbole I've ever heard. You would have thought Smith and Paine killed someone. Neither came even close to crossing the line and Paine had a sh*t day behind the stumps, that's it.
Welcome to the age of social media where everyone has their say and fuel by the media that need to be relevant and get click bait otherwise no one will be reading their article.

We aren’t resting players in a decider.

It was at drinks. How was it holding the game up? The only reason it was on camera was because Fox were talking to one of the bowlers in those stupid interviews they do at drinks and the world feed doesn't take that so they just get a shot from stump cam. Pant literally walks to his mark straight after it and immediately finds centre and then finds the mark for off stump.

It is absolutely mind-blowing that this is even being spoken about.
Its not mind blowing...what he did was mind blowing stupid. He knew what he was doing and it was blatantly stupid what ever way you look at it.
Smith thought because it would ruin his life if someone mucked up his guard whilst batting he would do it to Pant..because surely it would also ruin his life.
Smith is imo afflicted with Aspergers and really struggles with behaving normally...great batsman but not blessed with cricket etiquette.

OCD and not in the Hollywood haha this guy likes to switch lights off kind of way

his routine before facing up is mental it’s like 15 steps.

not surprising his form picked up when he could see his wife who obviously keeps him from melting down and sorts out stuff for him.

I was thinking no chance but Langer has actually said Harris will replace Puck if he’s not fit. Holy crap, he’s finally changed his tune!
If wade was in better form I reckon they would have repeated the dose from the first test. The way it stands now I reckon wade might be batting for his career next test and langer doesn’t want him opening in that scenario.

I thought the posting of him in his whites shadow batting was quite sad tbh. It was something that should not have been posted. Prior to that evening we were being told that Smith was struggling because he was in the hub and hadn't seen his wife for sooo long and then the one night he is with her he puts his full kit on and pretend bats. This is not normal behaviour in anyones book.

If the selectors put that team on the park then I’d be checking their Sportsbet accounts for large bets on India to win.

If it was somebody else, it wouldn't have been an issue at all.

The fact that it was a convicted felon doing something shady again is why it has blown up.
You are kidding me, India would have kick a fuss who ever it was and Smith was guilt by association and being the captain, Warner and Brancroft did the deed.

why would we be 'resting' players there's not another test match for more than a month they can rest then.

so if you want starc and lyon out they are being dropped - by the way - not happening.

i'm all for the dropping of wade and effectively ending his test career - but almost inclined to give him the brisbane test and then doing so.

FWIW, it's a bit of a shame India will be so undermanned for this one, as a decider like this after a tight series could have been epic. When you look at the list of best XI players and a few fringe ones that have missed some or all of this series, it's impressive that they're still in it with a Test to play:

Kohli, R Sharma, Rahul, Shami, Jadeja, Bumrah, Pandya, I Sharma, Yadav

I am on the spectrum and have said since day dot there is no way Smith isn't on the spectrum as well. 100 percent. Obviously he's under no obligation to, but I feel it'd be awesome for kids growing up with an ASD/Asperger's if he tried to speak about it publicly. Obviously I know how hard that would be for him too, though.

Yes, I'm that convinced about it.

great sharing - genuine question though

aren’t we all on the spectrum?

isn’t that why it is a spectrum - as opposed to a few simple boxes ?

What specifically is it about him that gives you that impression? Other than him hitting himself on the pads 200 times before facing up

If Harris does well here, I could see him holding his place for South Africa and Pucovski coming in at 5 in place of Wade.

I think Harris deserves another go,gone back to the shield and produced the goods this season so far.I also like Pucovski at 5 but with Green at 6 and they are batting together might be a concern.Pucovski not having much luck with injuries.
