I never said that Gilchrist anything less than a great gloveman. And is a better keeper than Paine, though not by much.

I was just having a little lend that was all. Inglis is clearly the number 3 keeper in this country at the moment.

There may be other symbolic reasons for his decision, but a lazy search of the Wiki does suggest possible medium-term citizenship issues if the child is not born in India:

For me it would be a big thing, if my child was born in a certain country. Not saying its not important, and I think rightfully so, Virat deserves to be there for his newborn in his home country.

Yeah, the symbolic appeal of having your child born in the country that you love and represent in international sport would be undeniable.

By being born in India, the child is more associated with India (in Virat's mind) than they would be if they were born in, say, Kazakhstan.

In his 1st Test stint he was subpar, but I personally thought he was fine in his 2nd stint - he acquitted himself reasonably well on two subcontinental tours. It was his batting that was the problem.

In his 1st Test stint he was subpar, but I personally thought he was fine in his 2nd stint - he acquitted himself reasonably well on two subcontinental tours. It was his batting that was the problem.

That 2017 series in India made me a bigger Wadey fan. Kept as well as he ever had. Took the fight right up to the Indians with the lip. Batted aggressively at points and took the game on. Got a few decent little scores batting at 7 too.
