I like Maxi. But he isn't an opener. I suppose Paine and Wade could open together. Maxwell at 5-7?
Doubtful, but I wouldn't be completely against it.
2 reasons why i don't want Lab being an opener: It would require a major reshuffle where everyone moves up a spot, too much disruption. Lab is also our 2nd best batter, ideally we don't want him playing the brand new ball where it swings as it is much easier to get out.Reckon the marnus Harris opening combo is what the selectors are considering with green to play in the middle middle

Harris

Australian cricket fans demanding SMarsh be picked... two years after demanding he never play again. Comeback of the century in the making.

Just play him at number 2 then. He'll be in there in the second over anyway if Burns plays. Or the first if Burns takes strike.
We're basically starting the first test at 2 for nothing really given our options, although Harris sure isn't the worst option going around.
I wonder if our quicks will be allowed to bowl to their tail the way the Indians quicks bowled to the 2nd XI Aussie tail. That'd be fun.
Actually has never opened in FC cricket before (source: Ric Finlay)Well this is tough from the squad of 18
Harris - Started well this Shield Season and with Pukovski out feel hes next in
Wade - Has to play. Hes opened before.
Labs - No justification required
Smith - See above
Head- Thought about making him opener but went Wade. Still makes it at 5
Green - If fit. Otherwise Burns comes in to open and Wade drops to 6.
Paine -
Pattinson
Cummins
Starc
Hazelwwod
Lyon - 12th
Ive been waiting since Cummins/Pattinson/Starc test debuts in 2011 for the three of them to all be fit at the same time. Throw in hazelwood as a four man pace attack. Labs and Head to bowl some spin.

All that rubbish about the bowling to the tail ignores the part where the Australia A bowlers did the exact same thing the day before...

I don't think you watched the same game as me, but then you're an England supporter - so fair enough.
Lol, so you didn’t see Bumrah hit on the head? Or the follow up bouncers?
For most people, when the facts change, so do their opinions. I admire your determination not to be beholden to standard norms. If the alternative is Marsh again, just play Burns!

Think they will go with Harris/Wade of Green is fit to bat 6. Think they should go Marsh/Wade.
At the moment I'd send in eddiesmith to open the batting for Australia over Burns.

Yeh Lyon will play. Ive just got thing about these four back when they were early 20's coming in seeing them all together. They have never all been fit at the same time. One option is if Green misses is to send Paine up to 6 and Patto to 7.I think Lyon plays in Adelaide.
Is it just a case of whoever opens in this test is a sitting duck and will be dropped for the next test regardless with Warner and Pucovski back?
Maybe Pucovski will have to wait a longer.
Will be interesting to see who opens and if they go ok.
