Apparently Cameron Green is a swashbuckling batsmen akin to Kevin Pietersen!? His batting highlights on youtube don't really match that description - let's hope he truly is an all rounder, not just a fast bowler!

He’s a Batman who bowls probably in time might be a genuine AR but he has 2 FC tons this season including a 197 against a great NSW attack including Lyon

The only attribute he has in common with Pietersen is that they are both very tall. Otherwise their batting style are near polar opposites.

Twice in seven fist-class innings.

I'm not defending Burns, by the way.

Ok sure. One of those 7 was not out though so he's 2/6.

So he's played 3 innings in easy batting conditions for 239, 71 and 45 and played 4 innings in tricky batting conditions for 35, 25*, 26 and 5. At the very least he's cashed in on way conditions and at least looked like getting through the new ball in tough conditions.

Burns has had a similar selection of easy and tough conditions for 7, 29, 0, 10, 11, 4, 0, 0 and 1. That's a walking wicket.

Nobody is saying Harris is perfect or a star. If we had a solid opening pair in decent form nobody would be demanding he be picked. But we're comparing him to a guy with an ordinary test record who is averaging under 7 this season and a guy who's never opened in his life. It's ludicrous to even consider Burns or Wade ahead of Harris given how much better his performances have been.

With the Aussie selectors picking Burns, they obviously don’t rate the Indian bowlers, or they believe that Burns will suddenly have magical powers of invincibility when playing for “Team Australia”.

Patterson was unlucky but he’s barely got a run since. Maxwell despite how often you say it wasn’t consistent enough and no we don’t care what other things he brings he’s there to bat who gives a flying what else he brings.

Harris was brought in as a reserve bat to cover injury he’s doing that not sure why everyone is so shocked

How can you say Maxwell is not consistent enough,he rarely is given the chance to play the longer version of the game to push his claims for test selection because of the shorter version of the game.

Bad luck wasn’t consistent when tried. Others have gone past. Up to him whether he wants to get back or not.

India need a keeper, Saha is miles better. Pant is a glorified backstop.

Agree on Shaw though
Most teams need a keeper.

Pant is developing with the gloves, I just don’t think Saha offers enough with the bat at his age.

Pant is ordinary at best. He’s Wade like on a good day.

Maxwell returned to test cricket 2017 in Asia, topped the averages with a average of 38,never played a test match since and never given the oipportunity to push his claims because of the 1 day/T20 circus.Perhaps I am a little harsh in calling 1 day games a circus but T20 is.

Harris has got past 50 twice this season.

And they came in games where the scores were 18/1,092 and 21/1,148.
Burns has gone past 10 twice this season from 9 innings, and one of those times he got 11. His average in that time is 6.5.

Harris worst score is 5, his next worst is 20.

Even if you limit to just the india games, burns averaged 1.25 and Harris averaged 30.

The idea should be to pick on form. Clearly you and the selectors don't think so

Comprehension not your strong point. I never said I want Burns.

For the record, I'd have Harris, too - just saying his form is over-rated.

It’s a lose-lose situation with the openers I think. I don’t trust any of the options and hopefully Warner and Pucovski can be right for Boxing Day but I haven’t read how close they are.

I’d probably go with Wade and Burns and expect Labuschagne and Smith in very early. Anything more is a bonus.

Hahahahahahahaha a great NSW attack, oh that’s gold 😂😂😂😂

It was led by the same bowler you’ve been trashing for the last couple of weeks, now he’s great 😂😂😂😂

I’m quietly confident on Wade.

He’s the type of player that will probably relish the hard ball and an early attacking field.

I can see him doing well.

Burns, well....... I hope Marnus has the pads, helmet, gloves all on ready to go...

I wouldn't mind putting 100 gorillas on either Wade or Burns getting dismissed first ball.
