I still don't see how you can keep Burns in the team, you can bet if selectors had their jobs on the line that Burns wouldn't be picked.

I personally wouldn't pick Burns - his head and feet are a mess at the moment

However - his selection at the expense of Harris is hardly a travesty.

Being mates with Justin Langer and the team decision makers is more important than scoring runs. All this crap from JL about wanting to see players score runs, being selected on weight of runs etc. is all just bullshit now. I'm glad they picked burns, he's a walking wicket atm.

I also can't believe India selected Shaw over Gill considering Shaw's defence was non existent in the tour games and he showed no value for his wicket. I'm not fussed about Saha over Pant. Saha is a better keeper and capable batsmen.

Very interested to see how Umesh Yadav performs, he's been on a few tours of Australia and although being capable of taking wickets, he can also be expensive. Ishant Sharma is a huge blow for us imo as he's improved considerably and more importantly he was bowling well with Bumrah/Shami. Yadav has big shoes to fill and if he can show more control by reducing the boundary balls per over, it'll help us immensely.

Looked right at home every step of the way so far. He’s just as impressive above the shoulders as he is with his natural ability so I’m with you, it won’t surprise many if he seriously contributes this test

If Smith is out who are you going to replace him with,most likely find the badly out of form Burns would play.Would they look at the 2 players that got the tons in the 2nd innings of the Austraia A game.

You'd open with Burns (shudder) and Harris and keep Wade down the order with Green debuting. Inauspicious but a better option than bring in Marsh.

Besides its looking like Smith will play anyway.
