Not sure his bowling is good enough to be the third quick, not unless there was another all rounder in the side i.e. Green.Do feel he would have been fine as an 8, as a 3rd quick.

In England I agree, in Aus I don’t think he can play 8Do feel he would have been fine as an 8, as a 3rd quick.
Bowling was underrated and batting was overrated. They persisted with him for so long when he was battling shoulder injuries and could hardly bowl at all.Not sure his bowling is good enough to be the third quick, not unless there was another all rounder in the side i.e. Green.
Whilst his bowling is much more effective in England, you still need more back up with the bat for him. Someone like Green, or if he can develop some consistency with the ball Labuschagne. Even then there are better options as a third seamer. In England I agree, in Aus I don’t think he can play 8

Was the pick of the bowlers in the 5th test. It’s a tactic England often use over thereWhilst his bowling is much more effective in England, you still need more back up with the bat for him. Would also be easier to do if our keeper was a better batsman at the moment. Was the pick of the bowlers in the 5th test. It’s a tactic England often use over there
Not really, they play Woakes at home who isn’t a front line bowler. They do it as he can bowl stump to stump and swing it. He then bats 8 and provides valuable batting depthWould also be easier to do if our keeper was a better batsman at the moment.
Yes they also bat one of the Curran's at 7 and either Buttler or Bairstow, whoever is taking the gloves bats at 6. Paine isn't good enough to bat at 6. If you are going to do that, then you would need to play a different, either Carey or Inglis. Also, Woakes is a much better bowler than Marsh, so they have that luxury. Not really, they play Woakes at home who isn’t a front line bowler. They do it as he can bowl stump to stump and swing it. I don't think he is popular/an insider/from NSW which is a major reason he is not in the frame. Moises is yet has never made a first class ton or taken first class 5 4.He was coming of making 100 in India and gets dropped. If that isn’t bad enough he makes 700 runs in the shield at 50 from 15 innings and then can’t get back into the side even with Smith Warner and Bancroft getting suspended. Never been fairly treated Maxwell, our first tour post the ball tampering was in the UAE he is a good player of spin and provides an extra bowling option
Um, Moises has 12 FC tons (2 this summer) and 2 FC 5 wicket hauls...I don't think he is popular/an insider/from NSW which is a major reason he is not in the frame. Moises is yet has never made a first class ton or taken first class 5 4.
I think he meant test tonUm, Moises has 12 FC tons (2 this summer) and 2 FC 5 wicket hauls...
He said first class, I would have interpreted it the same way eth did.I think he meant test ton
Well he should have said test ton.I think he meant test ton

Would like to know exactly why , only heard good things about him from teamates and the like.
Neither are any good. Let’s call it a nil all draw. Marsh would have been okay as a number 8
Never said put him in the side , I certainly wouldn't.Good bloke - get him in the test side. Make him captain ffs.
Seems to be the main selection criteria these days.
Fact: Marsh out bowled Pattinson in the last ashes series
It wasn’t too long ago you had to literally make thousands of runs in a shield season to get a look in to the test team. Eg: Martyn, Hussey, Langer, Love
Now you’ve got clowns suggesting Maxwell get a gig without facing a red ball for more than two years. Or Kurtis Patterson who averages less with the bat than Peter Siddle over the last 18 months.
And then the selectors choose Carey despite averaging less than Nevill in the Shield over the last two years, and no one is suggesting he comes back in.
The lack of batting depth in Australian cricket must be at an all time critical level. Today we have NSW aka Australia A rolled for 160 by a 3 gamer, Jon Holland (lol) and an up and down soft plod (Pattinson)
And to top it off, the Shield season is shortened so we get even less indication of who might be capable.
I'm alright with that. I haven't seen a great deal of Swepson in FC cricket but I can see he's had a solid season this yearHolland isn't test standard, and Swepson has definitely passed him this season
Khawaja has averaged 20 over his last two seasons and doesn’t open in FC cricket he is done. Patterson has also done nothing of note. How is Holland the next spinner in line? He is sh*t. Got out bowled by Labuschange the last time he was in the test line up
No, he's very much straight up as a bowler. Nothing more than a 5th option. Was underbowled his whole career. Awful bat but a very good bowler

More often then not it is two of Archer, Anderson and Broad with Woakes as the third seamer batting 8 and Stokes as the forth pace bowling options.Yes they also bat one of the Curran's at 7 and either Buttler or Bairstow, whoever is taking the gloves bats at 6. Khawaja is easily still in the best 6 batsmen in Australia.
In the limited chances he's been given to open for Australia (5 tests), guess what he averages? 96.
When we keep cycling thru mediocrity in Burns, Harris and Wade opening for Australia, seriously? I'd far from consider Usman "done" if I was Langer.
Patterson is a serious talent, and once again we are continuing with Head (who has serious flaws) and Wade (who dazzles a 30 then skies one). Why wouldn't you give a guy who is only 27 another crack.
I'm happy to concede on Holland, but I really dont consider anyone else that special. Swepson's had one decent FC season. SOK is the best but he's given away FC now.
