Nice ol' scrap tonight. Good to beat the 'baggers at any stage I s'pose. We still had a propensity to over-posess and play 'cute' football at times, particularly in the second term, but the tackling was great and I detected more than a hint of that 1999 hunger in our play.

Leppa - solid as a rock; Wittle Wukey - taken another big step; Nathan Clarke - cool as a cucumber and big Crackers - welcome back!

* Crackers back, and as a bonus, playing brilliantly!!!!!!
* SOOOOOOOOO much talent in our young players, very exciting to see.

Really good game. Did what we had to. It was a bit scrappy, but we won, so who really cares.

The highlight of the night was the form of the backline for my mind. It's a virtually brand new set up from last year, and they all seem to know what everyone else is doing.

Mal Michael's touch on the line to rush a behind was superb, and the stunt he pulled on Beaumont was very clever. Pikey also played very well.

Keating was also a shining light. A couple of good marks, good hitouts, he cleaned up some bloke, and a goal. Great game back.

Nathan Clarke did look pretty composed, didn't he Ripper. Evaded all on-comers. Played a bit like Black (in his early days).

Pike and Michael were excellent additions in the backline, and Leppitsch was a star all night (along with Black).
