Good to hear, now can we move on? Unfortunately I doubt the media will let us.

If she was traditionally 'ugly' would it be alright?
I had no idea this was such a broad issue, I've never seen a sportsman say anything remotely like what Gayle did last night to a female journo. Even Mel herself said it's never happened to her before. If people like Neroli Meadows have had issues with Gayle in the past, why not bring it up before now? Seems like people are making this a far bigger issue than it actually is.We should move on from the Gayle incident but not from sexual harassment towards female journos in general. Like most things that require an attitude adjustment they need the constant discussion to begin to affect change over time.

Exactly the Gayle incident is only scratching the surface of deeply inherent attitudinal problems that unfortunately appear to be no where near shifting. We should move on from the Gayle incident but not from sexual harassment towards female journos in general. Like most things that require an attitude adjustment they need the constant discussion to begin to affect change over time.
Yep. Definitely expected she'd be professional about it whilst still acknowledging if as am unacceptable. Unfortunately this won't alter the outdated attitudes of many.Mel accepted the apology from Gayle as well and wants to move on, all class.
Yep Carbine...the "baby" comment indicates a patronising and proprietary view of woman.Referring to her as 'baby' transcends a joke, it is ridiculous and disrespectful behaviour. Might as well have slapped her arse and asked her to make her a sandwich. Imagine how humiliating it would have felt for her on national TV.
1) I'm not sure what to make I the first line.Do you think the immediate 'oh here come the do gooders', 'get a sense of humour', 'this country is getting ridiculous' leaps to defend this might have made 'small scale' impossible?
Agree this was probably not his intention.
Addressing her because of her sexual attractiveness as a potential date and calling her 'baby' in a suggestive manner comes pretty close.
I believe this IS the issue and I am hoping people concentrating on this one incident don't allow this to be lost. It is certainly the issue for the female journalists that have stood up to be heard today. They believe they are just as good as their male counterparts, that they earned their careers and that propositioning them while doing their job pays no respect to their role or professionalism, instead reducing them to their sexual attraction.
Who are we to argue they should not feel that way?

How else are people going to fill their outrage quota? Are you on day release or something? Do you not understand what is going on and why this is an issue?
Is it that common?
I mean it doesn't appear to have happened that often from what has been made public and Chris Gayle of course isn't Australian
She also accepted Gayle's apology, which was glossed over in a few media reports of her interview.Yep. Definitely expected she'd be professional about it whilst still acknowledging if as am unacceptable. Unfortunately this won't alter the outdated attitudes of many.
Is it sexual harassment when women throw their panties at Motley Crüe ?
Because they don't give a shit about stupid interviews. Why would you expect an athlete paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to be able to give a professional interview to the network largely responsible for the size of his pay cheque?
Gee I dunno.
