Look, there are legitimate places to say that 'political correctness culture' or whatever you want to call it is going too far in recent times. There are intelligent articles written by intelligent people stating as such (this is a good article, although the context is American colleges: http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/09/the-coddling-of-the-american-mind/399356/ ).

Getting angry at someone for hitting on a woman in a completely inappropriate time and place when she is just doing her job is not one of these times. Gayle was stupid. It's obvious this isn't the first time he's been stupid. He's got a history of treating women as sex objects.

No one is calling for him to be drawn and quartered. Heck, I haven't even seen any reasonable person call for his sacking for the initial offence (don't give me Twitter posts. Twitter is as reasonable as Bay 13). You can't expect no backlash when he does something this stupid in front of a million people live on TV, and millions more who saw it after the fact. This wasn't someone being lambasted for their private actions - it was a public response to a public action.

It's incredibly easy for men to sit back and tell women to suck it up, or that it's not a huge deal. My suggestion is for those who think that to go talk to your mothers, your wives, your girlfriends, your sisters. Ask them what kind of garbage they still have to deal with in the workplace on a fairly regular basis. It's still a common occurrence in regular work places - I can't imagine what it's like in hyper masculine industries like the sports industry.

Gayle deserved his fine. And like I said earlier, that would have been the end of it, were it not for his terrible response.

But I think it IS the end of the thread, lest it continues to go round and round and people continually insult one another for dumb reasons.
