"There wasn't anything meant to be disrespectful or offending to Mel, and if she felt that way then I'm really sorry for that"

This should be the end of it.

That squarely places the blame on her for being offended, not him for being inappropriate. How can you not see that?

So what's the difference between this and what Gayle did? Was Bravo forced to appologise?
I'm guessing since Mel was in the studio and it was a prerecorded interview, she wouldn't have been blindsided by it like she was last night.

"I don't get offended easily..."

Rrrrrrrrright, that's why she's on the ABC :drunk:

And on Rupert Murdoch's Fox Sports.

And spoke on Macquarie's 3AW.

Must be unqualified because of how she looks, hey?

If he has no problem with all those willing partners then why does he have to do it on air to a woman just trying to do her job? It's not a nightclub.
valid point.

but maybe when you have it all and are given it all, you have zero impulse control, this is perfectly understandable. See: Carey, Buddy Franklin... when people are treated as Kings and heroes, this is how it occurs.

So once again, you assume that she's not qualified because of how she looks?

Or you're assuming that she's not qualified because she's a woman?
Pick the one that would make you feel the most morally superior. That's why you're here isn't it? :rainbow:

So you think a hot chick with good work credentials wouldn't beat a plain looking chick with similar credentials 99/100?

His former team mate and captain Chris Rogers came out and called him a cancerous shit bloke who shouldn't be contracted by any club with two brain cells to rub together. It's not just female reporters this guy rubs the wrong way, it's everyone.

What's the old saying about creating a monster?

That's not to say every player put on a pedestal acts the same way, but I guess you couldn't be too surprised if they did.

The reaction to this i a massive joke and has resulted in me having to put up with a slew of feminazi's clogging up my facebook feed :$:$:$

Well shit.

How dare McLaughlin or anyone else be offended if it causes a reaction that you can easily ignore on social media!

And such heroes they are for not calling out Gayle's past 'indiscretions' :rainbow:

Just because you didn't hear about it doesn't mean action wasn't taken in the past. Rogers speaking up is the reason he was not re-signed by the Thunder and as such sat out of the BBL for a few years.

Is there a possible cultural misunderstanding at play here?

Maybe I'd pay that if it was his first time in Australia/civilised society, but I'd say a loose moral compass more to blame.

And the dude is 36, he's not 23.

Isn't it about time you put the player cap away, Chris?

but also, the pertinent term you used is "acts".

How can we discern difference between acting with the requisite motherhood statements, and true authenticity. Like I said before "perception management"

I wouldn't really expect that, he's a cricket player not a neuroscientist. When he's going into a prepared a prepared promotional press conference and someone has had time to coach him on his lines, yeah maybe. On the boundary line a minute or two after he's been batting, I wouldn't expect him to think too much about what he is saying at all.

You're being disingenuous to imply anyone is expecting Gayle to answer questions like an elite thinker. If he can't control himself for interviews that are part of the BBL players contract that is his **** up not anybody else's.

You mean it wasn't because Rogers is no good at hit and giggle cricket? :o

Someone with a loose moral compass still knows when they ****ed up. He almost seems like he genuinely believes there was nothing inappropriate with what was said during the interview.

when one of the Australian cricket captains had 50 partners on one Caribbean Tour, and when Buddy Franklin has a hundred different partners in a few months? Do you know about the basketballer Wilt Chamberlin's brag? Magic Johnson?

loose moral compass? what church do you go to?

maybe Nerolie and Mel should look at the many women who provide this sportstars with sex-on-tap, before they point a single digit at Gayle. Paul Barry said 1000 ladies for Warnie in his biography. Prolly unnerstimatin[sic] by a few fold for Warnie.

Why, the Church of The Battery of course

While having a 1000 notches on the belt sounds good in theory, it really is pretty loose when you think about it.

Why would he do that when he was the best 20/20 batsman in the world last year? Stop being ageist!
