That's nice. Why is his opinion more noteworthy than yours or mine?
Because he's smarter, more socially aware and less chauvinistic than you, and I don't work in the media.

Russell Jackson talking about how the "blokesworld" culture needs to change.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/bl...rt-medias-blokesworld-mindset-needs-to-change
Last week in the Melbourne Cricket Ground press box I was staggered to note, on the third morning of the Test and for the entire day thereafter, an accredited member of the media sitting in front of me tapping away at his company laptop, but tabbing between his match report and a constant stream of hardcore pornography.

I could barely believe what I was seeing. The thing that initially staggered me was the sheer audacity of it, that the presence of both female and male colleagues, who were sitting metres away with clear views of his screen, hadn’t been enough to deter him and that he felt perfectly comfortable doing it in full view.
Who's the pr0n junkie?

$20 says it was Gerard Whateley. You've gotta watch the quiet ones.

not illegal, just sleazy

generally speaking, i don't think you can use someone being offended, or uncomfortable as proof that something inherently bad was done to them - plenty of people go off the handle for any little thing said to them. there are things that are wrong regardless of how someone feels about them.

less hard to go past though is the nuts and bolts of it - a female presenter shouldn't be propositioned, or expected to be, while on air. it's not too much to ask.

feel sorry for all involved. the guys laffing it up in the commentary box have to look mel in the face again, and vice versa.

Don't be silly, he's smarter and more socially aware than you. Your opinion is irrelevant.

Pretty much how the elites in the Media Class see things :$

Some call him the next Waleed Aly. He's that much better than the rest of us

No outrage for the russians either... must just be black people who arent allowed to do it

Ah, time to play the race card.

Sharapova's in this instance was saved a little by her language. You have good self esteem when you speak, it is really nice. What was the question, I was just admiring your form. Her apparent flirtation decided to compliment him on an actual job skill, not his appearance in the first part and the second part she could pass on as the same even though we would know better. She is also saved by the fact that he was reciprocating her compliments so was apparently flirting back.

The thing is though that he would have gone up in people's estimation for reciprocating. Not sure Mel would have.

Im confused.

I thought a black male outranked a white female on the PC scale ?
Well it's not that easy. You've got the rabid feminist factor that tips the scales the other way.

Being a western female isn't the trump card in the pack but it does rank highly.

How do you reckon this would have gone down if the shoe was on the other foot and Meg Lanning or Elyse Perry started hitting on Andy Maher after they got out?

It's inappropriate regardless, however I don't know that Maher found his way to where he is today despite being constantly objectified. His reception of the comments might not have been as bad as the way a female reporter might receive the comments.

Check this out. Same Same or not not? I personally think it was the wrong thing to do by Chris. Off camera go for it. Not on the spot live tv. dude....

Either way, if either party is offended by what was said/propositioned than thats it. Its inapropriate. Mel was not exactly happy with it, by what i have heard from her boss. Gayle apologised. Needs to in person. But there are different standards from what I can see in society as a whole.

What about when Tim Cahill gave her actual physical unwanted attention?
