Do you know the context of the first one? Was it a set up dialogue? Was the man offended? Did it affect his professional integrity?

Lastly, does one invalidate the other?
I mean there's also the culture of disrespecting women in this country, in particular in sports and sports journalism. There's the enormous issues with violence towards women alive in this country at present, and the fact the roots of violence are in disrespect. But I mean if you ignore all that, then yeah they're basically the same.

Exactly the Gayle incident is only scratching the surface of deeply inherent attitudinal problems that unfortunately appear to be no where near shifting.

Look Mel says she hasn't felt disrespected before now. There were a couple of instances where she might have but they weren't as overt so she didn't. I am heartened in that she has done a lot of interviews, had a lot of contact in sporting circles and feels this is not the norm ... for her. So for her at least it isn't a deeply inherent attitudinal problem. Listen to Neroli Meadows and you might feel differently.

The truth, as in most things, is usually somewhere in between.

Nope. Athletes and coaches care solely about playing. The media etc are just a sideshow.

There's a reason so many interviews are total rubbish or so many presenters cop tough responses from them.
TV is an enormous reason they earn the money they do. If nobody watched, they wouldn't get paid shit. It's his job.

I have to agree with that.

So you think his job is to give interviews, and being a professional sportsman is just a sideshow for that?

Good lord what a warped handle on things you have.

Actually, his job is to play cricket.

So his job is to answer to the media not hit sixes? Gotcha.

Notice how AFL players almost never say no to media interviews? Be they before games, during games, or after games? Notice how coaches always go to a post match press conference no matter the result? Notice how the day before the Grand Final the coaches and captains have a media conference when they'd rather be anywhere else

You REALLY think they're all doing it because they want to? Because that's what y'all are saying.

And this one?

Again. Does this invalidate the Gayle scenario? What is the point otherwise? You can find thousands of flirtatious TV show bites and present them all. It changes nothing.

If you care, then I'd suggest it looks like an unwanted sexual advance. It is not undermining his professional career as he is not at work at the time, so it is not demeaning in that way. It could have been a heads up dialogue but probably not. Her job is to joke around with the guests so may be somewhere in the sphere of what is expected. Gayle's job is to play cricket and McLaughlin's job is to interview cricketers about cricket. What happened is far removed from Gayle's job description.

However, this guy might not have appreciated those comments. He may be married and felt embarrassed for himself and his wife. His wife might have felt embarrassed or humiliated.

There is a lot you can take out on every case one by one.

You said it was his job. It isn't. His job is to play cricket.

Interviews are secondary to that.

Part of his job. However you want to word it. It's not something he does as a charity.

Haha wow. Interesting to see how the SJWs will defend this one.

You guys don't get it. Those who disagree with Gayle's actions do not condone sexual harassment regardless of who it is against.

Why are we seeing constant attempts to reduce it to a male v female bias or a black v white bias? Trying to find contradictions in the beliefs of others does not diminish this incident as acceptable in any way.

Double standards in todays society, see the sunrise reporter accosting a gentleman on the beach in her ‘’news report’’. No outrage there. Because there doesn't need to be. Tell me what is the basic point of difference about the two situations?

You have a job. You pay taxes. I'll infuse your warped logic onto this scenario:

Because you pay taxes even though you don't want to, you're saying what you actually do for work isn't your job, rather paying taxes is your job.

I hope with this short example you can see how idiotic your point is that giving interviews is their "job".

So his job is to answer to the media not hit sixes? Gotcha.

What a genuinely idiotic comment. Surely in this day and age of professionalism, sports personalities have had some media training so they are able to not only "hit sixes" but talk to others about hitting sixes. And surely included in that training would be to show respect to the interviewer.

a) Again, part of his job, however you want to word it.
b) Paying taxes isn't something I like. But I do it. I do it how it should be done and I get on with it. Something Chris Gayle seemingly finds too hard.

Rewind back to the innings break when they were interviewing Boonie.
I thought she looked uncomfortable during that, as a lot of her questions were given lip service by Boon who focused more intently on Fleming's questions.
I was always under the impression Boonie was a puffed-up, Ocker yob.

Dull with a bat in his hand too.

Can barely recall a memorable shot by the great tinnie guzzler.
