It's not being told what to think. It's more that if someone can't have a basic level of respect based on their gender, sexuality or religion in 2016, then that person is going to be seen and thought of as an idiot. Simple really.Has the pre-requisites for a politician - intelligent, with the gift of the gab.
Don't like being told what to think, is more to the point.
Pretty sure even Germaine Greer would laugh herself silly at this entire episode.
The amateur nature of the photo is worthy of the stupidity of the meme then. Very appropriate. That's how the picture was made

What Gayle did is not really inconsistent with his brand. I do not see how it is trashed beyond repair. If he were to play next year most people would not even bother to talk about this by then.Your opinion has been made pretty clear. Unfortunately for you, the people in high places within Cricket's Victoria & Australia don't care for your thoughts - they have invested millions in promoting and expanding the game to appeal to women - so that they should be treated as equals.
You can argue that many female reporters have come out of the woodwork and like Stewart Coventry you claim - "opportunism". I'll pay that - but in providing the opportunity he opened himself up to a full on blitzkrieg from female cricket journos the world over. And none have missed him.
BBL is all about fun and entertainment - but a lot about families - Gayle is toast in the Australian market - he has trashed his brand beyond repair. I will be very surprised if he plays another game - CV are fuming beyond belief.
This could end up in the courts if this were to happen.Sounds like even if he doesn't get kicked out now, he won't be coming back

It's the Herald Sun. It's what they do.Ben Horne's writing on this is unintentionally hilarious. "Disgraced" cricketer Chris Gayle, "incidents of this magnitude".....lmao
Yeah seems over the top, actually banning him. I wouldn't think any clubs would sign him anyway, but CA preventing contracts is a bit messy. This could end up in the courts if this were to happen.
Whilst what he did was wrong, its not likr he's committed a crime. Seems over the top to me.It's the Herald Sun. It's what they do.

I can understand their wanting to "protect the brand", given it's a sport being heavily marketed to women and children. If the World Cup incident is proven, then I'm all for it, **** him off. But if it's not, then blocking contracts solely for the Mel comments is way over the top.Whilst what he did was wrong, its not likr he's committed a crime. Seems over the top to me.
You'd have to think there is some truth to it with what has come out since with many female reporters telling of their experiences with him. Probably the dumbest 'response' seen on this issue. Those feminist and left winged idiot groups don't want to contradict them self again do they

I'd rather stab myself in the eye. I feel it'd be less damaging.I don't watch the shit (BBL) so CA is no worse off if I continue to not watch it. But read the comments in the HS - the number of people who've been fans but now say they want nothing to do with BBL after this over-reaction.
There is another opinion and it's shared by many.
Read the comments in The Age then, and let me know if Gayle's been linked to global warming yet.
They're looking at banning him for what happened at the WC last year. Not for what he said to Mel. You know that, right?Chris is an idiot and should not have said what he did, but this whole situation has been blown way out of proportion.
His comments were made in jest and without malice. Of course that does not excuse them but I very strongly feel this should not be as big an issue as it has been made out to be.
Absolutely he should have been instructed to apologize for the incident - both privately to Mel & also more publicly if others were offended by his comments. I can understand Channel 10 taking the microphone off him for future matches. Whilst not necessarily supportive of it, I can understand a fine being handed down.
However, to ban him from future competition here in Australia is absurd and a long way past the appropriate punishment for the 'crime'. Let's not overblow what Chris did here - he made an inappropriate comment. I cannot believe a professional sporting organization is honestly considering going down that path. CA had to respond, and they did - there's no reason to make themselves look foolish.

Probably because nobody would've believed or done anything about it until now.Equally as absurd.
Yesterday was the first I heard of that alleged incident. Why act now - 10 months afterwards - and not then? Don't tell me the incident with Mel isn't a huge factor here.
Again, it all points to Chris being a moron and I won't dispute that, but surely people know that if you enter any professional locker room there's a fair chance you are going to see something you probably don't want to.

Tony Abbott is not that far off Trump and we elected the clown.Australian political parties have too much control for Australia to be Trumpable
