I didn't bother on Monday night. Chris Mew doesn't spring to mind as a player with an exceptional story. So I gave it a miss and watched the ABC instead.

Mike still has a plethora of former players who do have an interesting & entertaining story to tell. Some of the blokes who he could consider - Jim O'Dea, John Greening, Jim Buckley, Paul Sproule, Graham 'Jerka' Jenkin, Paul Meldrum, Fraser Brown, John Pitura, Bill Barrott, and.......given the hype around Caitlin Jenner - maybe Ian Stewart?
From WA - Dean Kemp, Daniel Kerr, Karl Langdon, Peter Wilson, SA - Gary McIntosh, Andrew Jarman, Wayne Weideman, Mark Bickley, Mark Ricciutto, Tony Modra.............

Paul Salmon was in the 2013 season - Guest no.14.
Chris Judd - Episode 2 Season 1. (2011?)

Yeah I don't get this insular thinking. On face value why would you have watched Eustice? But if you hadn't you missed out on a remarkable story. have only recorded Monday's episode but no doubt there will be something to learn - very few Open Mike's have had no revelations.

I'd also lke Sheehan to expand his horizons to more 'backroom' people.
Thinking back to the Mew era at Hawthorn, imagine the stories of their legendary trainer Bob Yeomans or the insights of club stalwart Brian Coleman.

Just generally I'd like to see people like George Stone, Richard Colless, Frank Costa on the show, rather than say a Leo Barry or Corey Enright.

However, that is a very good point. A good example from Port would be our old runner, David Arnfield.

Ted Whitten Junior?

I agree with more back room 'players'. George Stone would be very entertaining. Never played VFL but made a damn good career out of being an astute lieutenant to a number of successful VFL/AFL coaches. PLUS he was a former Brunswick player (as well as Camberwell & Prahran) and if he ever opened up on some of his 'nocturnal' experiences it would make for interesting TV. ;)

I'm watching Chris Mew now. Can someone wake me up when it's finished.
Yeh nah I played in heaps of finals.
Yeh nah I won quite a few flags.
Yeh nah I was a bit disappointed I didn't play finals one time.
Yeh nah I retired and then Yab wanted me to come back mid season so I just did.
Yeah nah I like a beer or two.
Yeh nah but yeah it was good I guess.

Ben Cousins? Could be pretty wacky.
I mean someone Mike has interviewed in the past being re-interviewed.

Like Judd now he can be allowed to say more.

Yeah for some reason I thought he had been on before. Not sure why I thought that.
His name is thrown around a lot on here as possible candidates.

I turned the Mew one off half way through

Why on earth did anyone think it would be a good interview? Take nothing away from Mew being a great player but it would be like players like Michael Sexton, John Blakey, Ben Hart or Ashley McIntosh being interviewed. Yep all great but really..... Zzzzzzzzzz

Would love to see more interstate footballers interviewed, its been 2 and a half decades since AFL became national, plenty of ex-footballers from West Coast (1987-2000), BB/BL (1987-2006), Adelaide (1991-2008), Sydney (1982-2010), to pick from. Its not as if Mike wouldn't have seen them play.

Has any guest come from Freo? Would be interesting to hear about a second WA team coming into the comp in the mid-90s. The first Western derby, getting players back home from Victoria, struggling to become a top 8 prospect, etc.

Bolded have been on. Winmar was on with Gilbert McAdam because he's not the most talkative/confident bloke going around.

Everitt would be good. Gives an aker like vive of telling it how it is and not worrying about the consequences. Interesting to hear about being at the right clubs at the wrong times

Just on the discussion of players from interstate teams - does anyone else see players from the mid-00's Eagles shirking these types of engagements? You know what the questions are going to be about (Newman gave us an example on TFS with Judd last night) - so why put yourself through a segment's worth of grilling about "partying" under the guise of a discussion about your career?

There will be exceptions (David Wirrapanda springs to mind as one), but I don't see many Eagles of that era doing shows like Open Mike.

Ben Allen would make good viewing.
