drinking a carton of booze every weekend will make you look like that.

I thought it was one of the better, if not best episodes this year. Billy is an excellent story teller... i'd previously thought going to be one of his sportsman night's would be shit with him playing the clown but he does have some funny anecdotes.

He didn't seem that bitter about the GFs - i think it was definately fair to say they were the 2nd best team in 1989, 1994, 1995 and 1992 was the one that got away as other players have mentioned.
On the drinking thing Liam Pickering said the other day on SEN that Billy has never been the big drinker that he likes to portray himself as. In fact said Pickering, when it came to the Geelong teams that both played for, Billy was a long, long way down the order of merit.

I found it interesting that it got to a point for him that he pretty much feared playing grand finals as he was worried they'd lose another one.

Good interview overall. Enjoyed it

Dale Lewis this week should be also pretty solid.

They'll spend half of it talking about his quote about how many players were on drugs from close to 10 years ago and the other half on Plugger/Barassi.

Weren't far off.

Overall, enjoyable show, too much on the drugs though needed more about his career. Handy player

Checking his stats forgot how good he was, always remembered his laziness more than anything

And he is a total dickhead IMO.

Listen to him and Jars very spasmodically most afternoons on MMM. I can't keep it on the station for anymore then 10 mins at a time before switching over.

Never met him, didnt mind him when he played for us.

His brother played down here for a bit he was ok, bit on himself.

Not sure id want to listen to dale and jars though either to be honest

what a useless open mike episode that was. I know drugs are the in thing now and he came out in early 2000's to expose it but to spend 20 mins of the 30min show on the drugs issue was boring. would have liked to hear more about his career, you know the thing these shows are supposed to be about.

if you didn't know better, viewers would be forgiven for thinking lewis either played entirely wafl or sanfl, or was an official, such was the lack of discussion about his actual playing time. a wasted opportunity about a part of his career we all knew about.

I can understand why they wanted to talk a fair bit about it but surely they could have kept it to 10 minutes instead of nearly 20. It's also not like he was some obscure spud that played less than 50 games, he did have a pretty decent footy career.

Really felt that the drug conversation should been shared between Dale and Mike over a coffee before they started recording. Could have spent 4-5 minutes discussing it but it didn't add to the episode, or something I was dying to hear about. The Richard Osborne incident and 96 GF was kind of shoehorned in at the end and what I believe the audience wanted to hear more about.

I must be in the minority here but I liked it. He was never a star player, just a good ordinary player, so I wasn't upset that they didn't spend most of the ep talking about his footy. I enjoyed his story about the drugs saga from his perspective because I've never heard his side of the story before.
Spoke really well I thought and comes across a decent bloke.
Not one I'd be rushing to watch again, but not the worst of this season.

Agreed. They spoke about Richard Osborne for about 20 seconds. They didn't even mention that he was convulsing at the time. It was probably the most frightening footage ever seen on the field at VFL/AFL level and it was completely glossed over.

I hope Mike goes relatively hard on Brownless. He was an extraordinary talented player who unfortunately epitomised the Geelong side of the late-1980s to mid-1990s. Somehow he has done incredibly well in the footy media and as such people probably forget both his exceptional football talent and his unfulfilled career.

Counted 4 mentions of frothies.

Mike was interviewed on SEN this week and mentioned that the shows featuring interviews from pre 1980's players rate poorly.

Seems like the general community have littleregard for the history of the game.

How do they judge the ratings these days?

"So Gerard, why do you think you didn't make it to the AFL?"
Played 9 games with South Melbourne/Sydney in 1982.
Mike :"So you played 9 games for the Swans in 1982 and started coaching Freo in 1995. Why did you leave the game for such a long time and what did you do with yourself for those 13 years in between? "

Gerard:" Well Mike, I played in Premiership sides in the WAFL and have coached Claremont in four winning Premierships as well. "

Mike: " You did what to who now ???????"
