Actually had to request to miss training as his partner was in labour. No one at the club apparently knew she was pregnant.
I love how candid he is. Calls a spade a spade and as others know, had tremendous influence on the playing group.

Cheers, thought there was something to it.

Forgot how skinny he was on debut, that guernsey looked 5 times bigger than him

the Scarlet one tonight was interesting like i didnt know that in 07 players were still getting smashed after games and showing up to training hungover the next day. if only he could sit still he was always swaying from side to side. but was a good one, not the best for the year

That is completely wrong. Scarlett isn't the type of guy who would lie, and this is what he said happened... Basically, he had sledged Harvey a couple of times during the game that he'd never win a flag, was a selfish player etc, nothing really out of the ordinary. He then went to shake Harvey's hand after the game, and Harvey gave him the cold hand, so Scarlett simply stated things should be left on the field, and Harvey ignored him. That was literally it, nothing else to it. Scarlett says he doesn't regret it, and the whole incident doesn't faze him at all.
You said: "that he'd never win a flag"
I said: "that he would be leaving the game empty handed"
They sound bloody alike to me. Completely wrong

Anthony Stevens
I've thought that before. But I know there would be too much of a focus on the incident, the aftermath, the effects on him, being the victim in that whole situation, and probably not so much focus on his footy.

Having said that, there would have to be a Carey one at some stage, hopefully this year. But I'd want Mike to just focus on his footy (including his move to Adelaide) and not talk about the incident.

my memory of this is sketchy but pretty sure as well as general sledging there were also comments about
fathers (Bartels and/or harverys) and it got a bit personal.

Makes sense, as the game was played on Father's Day. Bartel's estrangement from his father had been widely reported around the time he won the Brownlow and again when it was found out that he was dying a few years later.

Carey said his bit on all that on Denton and other crap so he may not want to touch it, would be a good interview to hear him talk about his footy.

Some id like to see would be

Tim Watson
Tony Lockett- wont ever happen
Garry Ablett Snr
Ron Barrasi before he gets too sick
Andrew McLeod/Tyson Edwards could do one together

He'd have to do one on Barassi soon as well, he'd have some great tales from his time at Melbourne, Carlton, North and Sydney.

John Kennedy Snr would be good too.

Probably the 2 oldest and greatest of the still living legends.

It's why I liked the Tony Charlton one so much last year, because we got to hear his story before he died.
