Same old story; he excels on the footy questions because he knows his shit so well, but struggles when he gets personal; he gets the stutters, is unsure of himself, and the interview takes a weird turn.
He should just stick to the footy and leave the psychology stuff alone.

Interesting that Johnston referred to the Woman's Day story.

Yeah, that reference 'made the Woman's Day', in relation to a story mentioning he'd had an affair, I found interesting. Almost as if he was proud it made the magazine! He seem's like a good guy and terrible what happened to his boy but that particular point I find perplexing.

Sure, but the point is that even with putting Open Mike on youtube, you are providing paid Foxtel content for free, and Foxtel may have an issue with that.
Tread cautiously, we can't afford to lose any more of you. And people should know where to find this content by now. Christ if I can work it out 6000 kms from home, surely people down there can figure it out.

Its worth pointing out that Open mike comes with your news sub now (as well as on the couch, after the bounce and league teams)...if you can spare the 4.50 a week. (which i incidentally have)

So it's still paid content though, even if it is peanuts. But technically they could still come after you.

Loved Simon Beasley as a kid playing at full forward for the mighty black ducks Swan Districts kicking plenty of goals ..Im glad Simon mentioned where he came from because it certainly wouldnt have been brought up by the Vic centric Sheahan!

Thought the Beasley one was very good. As always, Mike tends to ask the subject about the stuff which has nothing to do with their footy career, and anything good about the interview was down to the subject himself.

How about asking Simon Beasley how different it was coming from WA and their style of play to the VFL? A simple glance at the stats and you'd see that in his first 11 games, he only kicked 23 goals before kicking 58 in his last 10 matches for an 82-goal season. It's not hard to see that Beasley took a while to adjust to the league and Footscray's style of play, so why not ask him why he thinks that was?

Really enjoyed the Beasely interview. He was a player before my time and by the looks of it could do definitely play. Seemed like a perfect forward for that era. With an interest in horse racing i know him more as a bookie and was good to get his story on why he was banned etc.

After Dominators interview last week I'm really looking forward to Maclures interview in the next few weeks.

Love it how Mike asks Beasley why he started League football so late, Beasley rightfully told him he didnt and had been playing league football at Swan Districts. Mike just shuts up then as he is vic centric about everything.
I remember Blight telling him no one cared in SA about the VFL and Mike again quickly changed the subject.
In those days VFL/WAFL/SANFL League games were exactly the same achievement and level.

Owns horses (including a very good filly called Lady of Harrods with a few others including Michael Roache) so I'd assume so.
