Disappointing but we were more competitive than I expected. Actually could have won it if we took our chances, but we just lacked that polish with our composure and cohesion. That umpire blunder that resulted in the 12 point turnaround in the 4th stings as well.

I liked Carroll's game, he seemed to come from nowhere to looking settled at the top level.
Sharman is going to explode and dominate a game sometime soon.
We looked better in the air than we have in recent seasons, without being able to dominate.
We need to get this one-too-many hospital handball out of our game, it cost us dearly today.

I know the first couple of games of the season are always a flip of the coin, but it did look like we were too focussed on trying to play our game while letting the opposition do whatever they wanted. Hopefully we can start to gel and make the most of our dominant patches.

If Ro is out with concussion I hope we give Dodson a run, we need the height and I think two rucks is going to be the way to go this year.

Collingwood simply smarter. Their ability to find gaps and space is elite...that's why they're regulars at the end of a season, and we aren't.
It's only round one. Let's see if we calm the f*ck down with the ball and find some composure over the next couple of games.

The pies were disciplined, lowered their eyes going inside 50 and controlled the game. +23 inside 50s doesn't tell the tale, they were in control in the second half.
No point overreacting to the first game of the season but that was a very on brand loss, complete with only kicking 10 goals. Butchered a lot of chances but when it's been happening for a while so we call it a pattern as opposed to an aberration. If Ross cannot get us more dangerous going forward we will go absolutely nowhere.

Disappointing result but not unexpectedly we just shat the bed a few too many times on the big stage, that we’re simply not used to. You don’t just pluck experience out of thin air, you get it from experiencing big occasions and expectations, as we did tonight. And the more times you experience it, the better you’re likely to handle it.

And too many didn’t do enough. Eg Marshall, Tauru and Box had 11 effective disposals between them. With two of those guys being the two youngest out on the field. The only teenagers.

The whole team will be a lot better for the experience, especially the young ones, and it’s clearly looking like our midfield will take time to gel. It’s practically a brand new midfield.

We won’t really know how good we are or how good Collingwood are for a few weeks at least, so hopefully we pick ourselves up quickly.

Liked Carroll but we missed having an ‘enforcer’, we simply can’t allow teams to bully Nas and double up on him without a whimper

If I’m Ross I’m saying as soon as you see that, you get over there, if you get suspended you can have a bonus payment

Just disgusting watching a team manhandle our best player without any retribution

coops dropped 3 dollies
kicks two of those and we are back in it, even with the terrible inside 50s, the handballs to a player under pressure and the pies having about 400 more uncontested marks (?)

shat it we did
but they are a good side even without moore and howe, we know this

lot to work on
