In fairness you have just quoted an article about how Hogan wants to be a one club player, where he says 'he missed Perth at times" and that when he is homesick the club sends him home for a while. Hardly a direct quote stating he wants to return home permanently, but rather a comment that even when he is homesick the club has processes in place to help him.

It's all in the subtext:

Here's what Bond needs to do is this.

"We'll like ONE of McCarthy or Hogan at Fremantle. Of course they are both contracted, but if they are homesick and GWS or Melbourne is willing to talk, I'm more than happy to talk."

McCarthy, still pissed after being dropped and missed the chance of coming home for the weekend, call his agent to ask what Freo will be willing to offer.

Hogan, after hearing rumors of McCarthy and Freo "talking", and realizing we only want ONE of them, got panicky of his chances of coming home. Calls his "friend" to discuss their future, then call his agent to find out more.

McCarthy, realizing that Hogan is in the mix, declares publicly that he is homesick and nominates Freo as his preferred team. Hogan does the same.

Freo to GWS and Melbourne: "guys, both your players are homesick, but I can't afford to offer you what you wanted. Maybe you should lower your expectation or I have to go with the other guy."

Result: Crozier + 1st round for Hogan. Sheridan + 2nd round for McCarthy.

I know little about players trade value, so I threw up players that I thought makes sense. i suppose I should've gone with the trade below since it's way more funny

In reality, we'll need to trade out quality to get either of them. So it might well take something like your first proposed trade. I just hate how GWS went and deliberately stockpiled every good tall they could in their first few drafts, creating an artificial shortage so they could trade them on down the track for more early draft picks.

Yep it was smart drafting by them. Hats off to playing the game well.

Must get Cam McCarthy if only so that its not the Vic clubs who reap the reward of homesick GWS players coming home in bargain deals.

Its a competition, anything that makes our opposition stronger, we have to do anything we can to destroy or sabotage or get the same.

Yeah um people said that after the intitial 2 years everyone would leave, then again after everyone signed extensions and now they have signed another extension its the same old same old.

We will lose players but there wont be an "exodus".

And those that do go will give us top picks in return which will help is with academy players and top talent from the draft to replace them.

I was actually surprised as i thought cogs was the one to go. So he may return but it wouldnt surprise me now if he stayed.

So maybe we should pick his brother up in the rookie draft to make us look all the more attractive?

I hope he stays with GWS, the team is exciting to watch and he is one of the reasons. WA people have more staying power than sooky sooky Vic kids anyhow

Other than McCarthy who genuinely needs to return to WA for family reasons that I will shortly invent!
