Failing that Operation Hot Mother could be a complete failure.

But offering just pick 5 (pretending that's best case scenario trade wise for us) wouldn't get us Patton. What would you offer GWS to get the trade done?

Well looking at a few of the early mock draft's, apparently there could be up to 5 KPP's taken in the top 10, so maybe Reid wouldn't be worth the top 10 pick this year. So if we can get a quality KPF in this years draft with our 1st pick I am cool with that, but I would argue we are at least one gun KPF away from being a serious top 8 contender right now.
So right now, I would trade a pick 7-10 for Reid. Bite the bullet I guess you would call it and pay a little overs for a real list deficiency. Reid is without a doubt a quality KPF; best hands at the Swans IMO and would be our 60+ goals a season tall forward that we desperately crave.

I doubt that very much. I don't think his value has dropped at all. Contracted until 2015, Former number one and despite some awful injuries he looks in fantastic condition. To get him we'd have to be offering a Tom Scully esque deal of around $1 million a year for 5+ years to get him interested and then we'd have to bring something seriously good to the trade table to get GWS interested.

I think that it will be one of our second tier mids and a first round. Guys like Lester, Green etc. Even though I love both those guys and rate them real high. They are really the only players I would be willing to lose

We had that discussion last year - what mature player do we have that GWS would go for? Our best players are KPDs who are too old for GWS's preferences, mids who are more important to us than them because of their midfield depth, and Leuenberger - they filled that hole with Mumford.

Why would GWS take Lester, Green, etc? They have last year's pick 2 and this year's pick 2 playing in their reserves because they can't fit them into their team. You'd have to talk Rockliff, Rich or Redden to even get to their table, because those are the only players from our midfield that would make it into their's.

Sure he can. And like anyone using the PSD, he's got more chance of going to the Saints than to us, who will likely finish lower and have more spare cash since only Steven is their top AFL talent...

I think Jaksch is gettable. I'm unsure of how highly Sydney rates Reid (although they did recruit Tippett and Franklin, so there's that) but his current contract will be hard to top.

hmm, l think he might be getting payed quite well. Not sure the exact amount but they still had the COLA when they gave him his contract amount. I certainly wouldnt want to pay any more than 1mill over 5 years for Reid.

What about Mcarthey, l have no idea if he is quality or not but was rated the 2nd best forward at last years draft. Maybe we can get him if all else fails?

We're 1000/1 to get Patton this year.
Worth a conversation with Reid, but I highly doubt he'd move unless Sydney do terribly this year, he's desperate to get out, Sydney want to alleviate salary cap pressure, we do well and look like a team on the rise, we give him a seriously juicy offer and he doesn't care to move home to Victoria. Extremely unlikely.
Don't know anything about Jaksch except he went in the top 20 on draft day a couple years ago. Might work I guess.

I think we're going for the big guns here, but maybe worth lowering our expectations a bit. Robbie Tarrant, Ben Griffiths, Tommy Walsh anyone? Not so sexy, are they?

Very likely we'll go to the draft and get a gun forward. That's unless Paine, Close or Lisle show something spontaneous and awesome before season's end. But I'm not sure if Patton and co are where we should be focussing, and I'm totally unsure if these guys have hot mothers anyway.

So at least $400k a year, almost definitely more (I heard $700k for some of the years once), and under contract for a while yet. $1m a year for five years would definitely get his attention, but that's a lot of money for someone still largely unproven.
