I like castagna and the uniqueness and unpredictably he brings.
I just don’t think he has any place being compared or lined up against Sidebottom which is no knock at all.
True. It's a good debate though as you have to take into consideration names on paper, pure talent and potential versus what the "lesser rated" player contributed to our fantastic premiership victory.
I'm a Steele Sidebottom fan and he would definitely improve our side, whether it's George, Dan Butler or a McIntosh to make way is a good question.
Darcy Moore will be a very, very good player. Struggled in 2017 because with Cloke going and no one else at Collingwood to take the load he became the no.1 target and isn't physically capable at this stage. Personally and with hindsight I wouldn't have found a spot for him in our 2017 team, going forward I'd take him in a heartbeat.
Funnily enough Treloar with his chaotic kicking would have suited us just fine. Would get a gig in all 18 teams.
Our back 6/7 I'm not swapping for anyone!

Just was double checking that’s who you were referring to. Not sure if I rate Butler that highly. Think him and Castagna will be phased out eventually.
No one on our list, including Bolton moves and dances through packs with time and space like Butler, he's one of those rare players that appear to to have the game around him played in slow motion.
Missed almost his entire first year with a knee that also hampered him in his second year, came in this year missing 2 H&A games and still finished =8th in a premiership year B&F. He had a better year than Rioli and the coaches obviously rate him highly, so it would take something out of the ordinary for him to fall from grace.

Collingwood do have a midfield depth that could and really should have them much higher and right in the mix. In fact as a Collingwood fan you’d be entitled to be pretty disappointed currently.
But as we’ve seen shit can happen quickly.
Their backline is a revolving door, and they have alot of 1 way runners. Their forward line is a problem also. The issue is, they are following the same formula that got them there 2010. Load up on Mids, but they are the wrong kind of mids, in fact 2010 they had rabid pressure every week.

Also, with out an aging ex north player (wells) in their team, their win loss is horrible. Having watched them a fair bit, the ones that so many salivate over butcher the ball alot and with their backline not being flash they are getting smashed on the turn over. If they are relying on Wells and Pendlebury they have concerns. There's more reputation (not earned either) that actual class on a couple of their so called "gun mids".

Also, before everyone keeps crapping on about their mid field, please go look at the stats around 1%ers, hitouts, clearances, contested possesion, tackles, goal assists and all the items that aren't kicks or handballs OR marks. You will then understand why Collingwood are where they are, because they dont have players who work. And for such a much vaunted midfield, they are mid to bottom 8 in most of those stats. And 15th for 1%ers. They don't work.

We wouldn't need so many pressure forwards if we could take a contested mark. Moore would stretch defenses in the air. We tried to manufacture a second forward all year but gave up and went full smalls. What fell in our favour was that we did it late in the season meaning opposition didn't have time to adjust.

Maybe we could trade them Hampson then given how important hit outs are and how highly rated he is by many on this board.
Best five possession per week player in the AFL :)

The fact we were still playing Elton in round 10 and flirting with playing him in the next few weeks ahead gives credence that it was necessity not design that forced us to go small. :thumbsu::thumbsu:
And you are right, Moore would stretch defences in the air and actually take marks, which are important.
But hey, we've got Hammer to do that :eek:

Rioli, George and Butters didn't roll up at the end of the year and what are you trying to say, if the opposition had time to adjust our smalls would be rendered useless.

Darcy Moore is one of the most overrated players in the league.Collingwood supporters hype him up because they live in dreamworld.
But if he played for Richmond.......
Well then he’d be the next superstar.

I still find it hard to believe that this wasn't taking the piss out of themselves as a lack of self awerneness gag. Therefore I haven't really thought about it since GF day.

But after seeing it today it's hard not to laugh, I wonder how much the coach got paid to put his arms like that.

It's f**king hysterical. When you see the close ups on GF day, a couple of them seriously look like they're constipated.

And yeah, Don Pyke - and the rest of them - looks utterly ridiculous with his arms like that.

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Don’t forget the tough guy Tex Walker doing his walk off the line when the song was finished , like a bunch of primary school kids trying to scare the opposition , lol Richmond players were laughing at them .
