Rioli provisionally banned under anti-doping code


West Coast Eagles premiership player Willie Rioli has been provisionally banned under the AFL's anti-doping code and will not play in the semi-final against Geelong on Friday night.

Rioli is accused of tampering with urine samples being collected by ASADA. He has not returned a positive drug test.

The AFL's general counsel Andrew Dillon described the incident as an "adverse analytical finding for urine substitution" and said it could carry a penalty as severe as a four-year ban.

The sample was taken on August 20, two days after the Eagles played Richmond in their round 22 clash at the MCG.
