Opposition supporters on this board

I remind you that this is a Carlton board and if you want to come in here and debate the merits of a football issue with us, we will gladly accommodate you. If you want to post a one line troll to have some fun at our expense, it will be removed. If you want to resort to abusive comments, they will be removed. You have no rights here!

As for the decent opposition supporters, we appreciate you input and your reasonable outlooks (even if you are bursting at the seams trying to stifle a laugh at our expense ;)).

Cheers

Can we ban all.....

Trollers who support one of the following:

Collingwood
Essendon
Melbourne

Can we please ODN's......god I am getting sick of *certain individuals* bagging us all the time!

ODN :

What I liked about our board was that we were open to the compliments and criticism, unlike other club boards. I think we have the intellect on this board to combat any unfair or unwarranted post. Also, if there is something really offensive posted, we can always have that removed.

I just feel with our present vulnerability we have easy option to become defensive.

Just my humble opinion.

I agree with you which is why I said we will accommodate reasonable debate. If we want to argue the point with someone who says that we are 'crap' or that we are a bunch of 'cheats' without adding reasoned logic to the post, then we can do so in any number of threads on the main board. Personally, I think it takes away from the quality and I have had complaints thus the warning.

Don't you get sick of hearing "Carlton are crap", spend time constructing a post about recruiting, injuries, player development, etc etc etc only to have someone say back "yeah yeah, want a tissue? Carlton are crap"???? You won't beat a troll because they have no regard for the truth. By all means, fire a shot at them on the main board and I will be there to back you up! :D

ODN and other Carlton fans out there, if you've read any of my posts recently, you will see that this investigation has been a bit of a hobby horse of mine.

I absolutely agree that if Carlton have breached the salary cap, then they should be punished - but lets make it fair!!

Firstly, the salary cap and draft were introduced to even up ALL teams. If you believe what you read in the press (in particular, Caroline f@#*in' Wilson), you'll see that the AFL want to make an example of Carlton. How is this going to even up the competition. By taking first round picks of Carlton this next, and say for arguments sake, next year as well, Carlton might as well go out and purchase a nice display cabinet for a wooden spoons over the next year or so. Don't know if thats evening up the comp - doesn't sound like it to me.

Secondly, surely the AFL won't put themselves in a position where they will have to compensate Richmond and Fremantle. Richmond have definitely come out and have said this, not completely sure if Freo have.

Thirdly, If Carlton did have any inkling that this might have turned out this way, surely they would have traded these picks to other AFL clubs. Carlton could have got some quality players for these picks and the AFL couldn't do a damn thing.

Finally, I believe once the trade period has started, you may either trade or keep draft selections. Again, in certain media circles, they'll have you believe that the AFL instructed the other 15 clubs not to try and trade for Carltons picks 1 & 2. This is basic restraint of trade.

I believe the most fairest way of punishing Carlton is to ban them from the pre-season draft, issue a fine depending on the amount they exceeded the cap and take rounds 1,2 and 3 picks off them in next years National Draft. This way, Carlton at least get the oppotunity of getting some quality young players and climbing back up the ladder (thus evening up the comp), and the AFL are seen to punish the club for their indescretions..

Thanks
