But I’m finding it pretty hard to get a good read on teams. Some teams playing 4 times and some playing 2 by the end of the round doesn’t help…

I am starting to go with Miller 'we are happy with our list, don't need anyone'. As for small forwards Rogers looks 2 goals per game, and I suspect Lombard with his pressure, speed and in your face attitude will be a good addition too. Then more talented kids coming in (Patterson looks real deal). If players reach potential we look set with influx from academy to continue. We will have to pay a lot of players.

It will be interesting to see if we bring mature, top talent in the off-season.

I think we are in an interesting spot where we can just target specific role players and fill spots when needed going forward. We don't want for much. I still fully believe we are a bonafide small forward away from being a truly great list but if Rogers can be a 30 goal forward this year we are in great stead.

I think Lombard puts pressure on Ainsworth spot when he is fit and firing.

Ainsworth plays a bit of a different role to others I feel. He is more of a smaller lead up type providing an option coming out of defence. As opposed to the goal kicking/pressure type. When everyone is fit would be interesting to see the mix.

He’s in the Dylan Moore/Ollie Dempsey mould, we need that Watson type. Ben going to have stiff competition with Touk & Flanders also sharing minutes in that role too.

With Port imploding too wouldn’t mind looking at Willie Rioli for cheap, starting to get midfield minutes so must be the fittest he’s ever been.

Considering we can get the ball in there, just need someone to finish it off

With Port imploding too wouldn’t mind looking at Willie Rioli for cheap, starting to get midfield minutes so must be the fittest he’s ever been.

Don't mind that idea if none of our other smalls step up to become the 30-goal-a-year specialist small forward that we need to take the next step. Willie obviously has family connections with us through his cousins Daniel + Ben Long and I'm sure he'd be interested in playing AFL games in his hometown of Darwin, which is something we can consistently offer that no other club can.

Plus, Willie is a premiership winning small forward who kicked over 30 goals last year and has kicked 4 goals so far this year. Outside of already being 29 years old, Willie Rioli is the exact type of player we need in our forward line. I'd go after him and make him our goalkicking small forward for the next few years while we develop a young one like Dylan Patterson to take over later on.

He's clearly better suited to assistant coaching than he is to senior coaching and would thrive under a bloke like Dimma. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he moved back to Queensland to take up an assistant coaching role under Dimma. I heard we spoke to both De Konings. Sam just committed to the Cats so he's out of the picture, but Tom remains unsigned. I would have preferred Sam because he's more of a key defender.
