AUSSIE fans of TV queen Oprah Winfrey will get the chance to be in the audience of her Sydney broadcasts, with ticketing to be offered in an Olympic Games-style ballot.
Seating for about 3000 people will be available when the US talkshow host brings the final season of her program to Australia later this year, in a major tourism boost for the country.

Besides the 300 "ultimate audience members'' she will include on her adventure down under, local fans will have the chance to join the show when it is filmed from the Sydney Opera House forecourt in December.

Ticketing will be finalised next month, with registration available via Channel 10's website at a date to be advised.

The secret plans for Winfrey's tour - dubbed Project O by NSW tourism insiders - was revealed to a frenzied audience and media response in the US overnight where the story has dominated entertainment news.

In a personal message to Australian fans, the queen of daytime TV said she was excited about the adventure, including shopping in Melbourne and wine-tasting in WA before attempting the local lingo.

"Cheers mate - I will get the accent right before December, I promise.''

Adding a trademark spiritual touch to the sizzle reel, she added: ``Happiness is having something to look forward to and we could not be looking more forward to our coming down under.''

It is the first time the world's most popular TV host has taken the program outside of North America, in a coup helped along by her friend and Qantas ambassador John Travolta.

The Grease star is set to jet here for the airline's 90th birthday celebrations in November, but is expecting the birth of his third child with wife Kelly Preston in December when the Oprah production rolls into town.

Move it along, nothing to see here for buffoons. I work in Marketing and I have a degree which states Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Marketing. If you can't see the value to Australia's bid then move it along. The world cup bid is much about brand Australia as it is about legacy and what the sport can achieve over here and the region. Any massive publicity boost while other nations are being assessed by FIFA are huge boosts to Australia's image overseas and huge blows to other bidders.

The World Cup is a massive event for everyone, that is exactly why Tourism NSW, Tourism Australia and Qantas are all behind the Football World Cup Bid. These are the same players who helped land this deal with Oprah. This is a massive boost for Australia, a massive boost for Australia's world cup bid and a massive boost for Australia's tourism and services industries in general. I look forward to December when not only Oprah will be driving fever pitch news headlines about Australia throughout the globe but the positive result in a world cup hosting announcement will send brand Australia through the roof.

World-renowned actor and Global Goodwill Ambassador for Qantas Airways, John Travolta flew out to South Africa on June 10, prior to the kick off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in support of the Qantas Socceroos, the Australian soccer team. Travolta, a qualified pilot and Hollywood star of well-known films such as Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Pulp Fiction, flew his own Qantas-branded 707 aircraft, and landed safely at Lanseria Airport, situated north west of Johannesburg this morning.
Travolta acts as an official goodwill ambassador for Qantas wherever he flies, and while he is in the country for five days, he will be paying an encouragement visit to the Qantas Socceroos during training. While in South Africa, he will also be assisting in promoting the Nelson Mandela's Children's Fund to help raise awareness of their needs. Accompanying him on the journey is his family, including his wife, actress Kelly Preston.
"I have always been a great admirer of Qantas, an airline which embodies the spirit of Australia, so when Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas Airways invited me on this trip to support the soccer boys from down-under, there was no hesitation in mind that my family and I had to be here to wish them all the best for the World Cup™. Go Qantas Socceroos!" said John Travolta.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce says that the airline takes pride in having Travolta as an official ambassador.
"On behalf of Qantas and the Qantas Socceroos, we would like thank John for taking the time to come out to South Africa to support the Australian soccer team in their quest for the cup. As a true international ambassador, John has a considerable international profile and undoubtedly will provide inspiration and support for the Qantas Socceroos.

Yes, and what has Oprah got to do with the Australian World Cup Bid? Love to know mate.
A very good question this!

Either the point is lost on me because a long bow is being drawn or my brain is fried from revising investment yields for a test on Thursday.

Maybe Oprah knows something we dont. Maybe she wants to be in Australia and not the USA when the World Cup announcement is made because she want to celebrate the victory. Oprah is the most powerful person in the world.
