Well the AFL did everything they could to stuff up our early season.Reasons to be optimistic at the bye.
Reason 1:
We are one of only three teams to take 3 Top 8 scalps as the ladder stands at Round 9.
Top 8 sides beaten (R9 - 2018)
3 WinsReason 2:
• West Coast2 Wins
• Port Adelaide
• Essendon
• Richmond1 Win
• Adelaide
• Sydney
• Geelong
• Hawthorn
• Melbourne0 Wins
• North Melbourne
• Collingwood
• Gold Coast
• GWS
• Fremantle
• Bulldogs
• St Kilda
• Brisbane
• Carlton
We have overcome the hardest part of our fixture and it now opens up.
Our remaining fixture is made up of 13 games that includes:
- 8/13 games at Adelaide Oval (62%).
- 9/13 games against the bottom ten teams as of Round Nine (69%).
- 1 double up against the Western Bulldogs who have not beaten a top eight team as of Round Nine.
- 2 games at the MCG in the final eight rounds.
- Our remaining games against the Top Four are all at home.
Reason 3:
Our injury list is small.

But who has any confidence that we won’t continue to get destroyed by the umps.Nah we can take em.
Reverse that free kick count and all the momentum sapping it brings...we are in with a shot.
Wasn't it like 10 goals they scored as a result of free kicks to our 1.
I would be more worried about Richmond at the g then wce at the g....![]()
The fixture, especially over the past month, the umpiring, the MRO with Robbie, how the SPP saga was drawn out and oversanctioned ( 3 games sheesh)How so?

Also having to play twice at Optus this year yuk.

I realise we had a part in the last 3 but the AFL have done us no favours this year. All of those things can sap confidence early in a season.
Set ourselves up in a nice position going into the bye. I’m still not ready to trust this team yet though.
so what do we consider a pass mark this year?
.
The fixturing was a challenge but I'm not sure I see that as a deliberate attempt to derail our season. Ideally we wouldn't have had two trips to Etihad + Perth + Sydney but ultimately that's the fate of being a non-Victorian side. Having 4 out of 5 games at home could be seen as a huge advantage at this point in the year so it all depends on how we decide to play there.
I agree with you on the Robbie and SPP points, especially SPP.
It is probably drawing a long bow to say the AFL has gone out of its way to hand us a shit sandwich this year, but in a competition that is so compromised through the fixture to maximise crowds, sponsorship and revenue you do wonder sometimes. I mean, just compare the early season momentum building fixturing of both of last years grand finalists to what we copped in 2015 after making a Preliminary Final.
Fremantle (away)
Sydney (home)
North Melbourne (away - who’d also come off a prelim in 2014)
Hawthorn (home)
AdelIde (as away team)
The people who run this game can not be trusted to ever do the fair and equitable thing.
Neither, it is revenue maximisation.Which raises the question - corruption or incompetence? I'm leaning towards incompetence. We're basically an after thought for the AFL in many ways. Its obvious with the amount of free-to-air games we're given.
Adelaide's early season run this year is very curious indeed.

Yes, and who would have thought that corruption could ever be a byproduct of revenue maximisation?Neither, it is revenue maximisation.
Exactly.Yes, and who would have thought that corruption could ever be a byproduct of revenue maximisation?
