We're still a young side, and I think we just ran out of steam in the last part of the 4th quarter.

No, I'm sorry, this isn't what happened this week. Everybody just stopped running and contesting. The whole teams effort/intensity dropped off and it was really really obvious (at the ground) that they weren't spent.

We're a better team than Richmond and will beat them.

I'll be disappointed if we don't beat North and Sydney at the G also.

Yep. And we should expect to give a good account of ourselves against the Lions and Port.

And after watching Freo on the weekend Barlow is going to be a massive loss for them. I think Freo will be very lucky to hold on to that top 4 spot. We are certainly not without a shot!

First of all nice post DL. Combined with what Ando727 said right after, your posts are a good representation of our season and where we are at right now. But I do agree 100% with everything Ando727 said. I left the ground without singing the song yesterday I was that disgusted by the last 15 minutes. I stay until the end when we are 10 goals down, but seeing that yesterday really made me think we didn't deserve to celebrate.

Could not have said it better myself.

It took all of the shine of what would have been a fantastic win. Good sides smash teams when they have them 51 points down with all of the momentum the last qtr. We should have put them to the sword and run out 80 point winners. We are mentally weak, kids or not!

Hannabel I do not think the performance of both teams over the last 6 weeks supports your view.
Richmond won 5 games ( including a top 4 team ) we have won 1.
They are running games out to the last minute we are falling in holes in the last quarter.
Richmond have a full forward who is averaging 5.4 goals / game. and has one bag of ten we have a ful lforward who has !! sorry I don't think we have one.
Why do you think we have a better side?
Sometimes we seem to believe our own bull----.
I think this is a real danger game.

Agree with you Andy Mac I will take a win any time however we should have won today by 6 goals min.

while you're at it, why don't you go and tell all the 5 year olds out there that santa doesn't exist?

Well it seems there are a lot more people in agreement with me than with you, Fairtex. Posting silly pictures doesn't present an argument of any kind. You come across like a soccer mum who thinks all that matters is that our boys had fun. I am just being realistic about what is wrong with Melbourne. It has been a problem for the past few decades. We don't destroy teams - even when we are dominating. It is representative of a weak and doubtful mindset. Not entirely surprising given how long it's been since our last premiership, but sooner or later, we are going to have to develop the uncompromising toughness that Geelong has. That is what wins premierships. We have the raw talent now, if we waste it by doing another decade of yo-yo seasons but never going all the way, it will reflect very badly on our club.

I, for one, am tired of the lack of success at Mebourne. I've supported this team all my life, bought memberships and been to many games. It must be nice to have a rose-coloured-glasses view of the world, Fairtex. But at the end of the day, what are they playing for? The ultimate prize. It worries me that Dean Bailey may not be a tough enough coach to instill the attitude we need. I suspect Hardwick would have been a better taskmaster and more passionate. Why we chose Bailey over Hardwick, I'll never know. Bailey's a nice guy, but he needs to get angry sometimes.

Looking forward to the Toigs match. In particular Frawley vs Riewoldt.
Riewoldt back in Rd 4 was the only player who I can recall getting the better of Chip! But there were rumours floating around that Frawley went into the game ill. If he wins this battle we will win comfortably.

We can make the finals, and it would help if a few results went our way. North and Sydney at the MCG are absolute MUST wins (which means must attendances) as these are the teams we would be competing with. We also really need to get over Brisbane and even Port interstate, and we can't afford to drop our game against Richmond. Freo and Hawthorn are the other two which I doubt we'll win, but as long as we're competitive we could provide an upset.

So we absolutely HAVE to get big crowds to our remaining home games v Sydney, Richmond and North. Or no finals for us :p That means you Wonna33 :p

But like most here, I'm not fussed. Finals means nothing so early in our re-development, look at Essendon :o

OH FFS Ando..Im not even going to bother reading that...too long and dry. But still, stop being a negative nancy every 3 seconds... and if you take my comments earlier seriously, you have some dire issues buddy.

It's so hard to pinpoint games for wins/losses because we have such a young team. I don't think anyone expected us to lose to WCE (FFS) on our own patch. Our guys simply didn't turn up.

If we win any of the interstate games we would have done extremely well. Brisbane with Brown back, Port under a new coach and Freo in WA will all be quite hard to beat.

I actually see us beating Richmond (simply due to having more forward options) and possibly North. On paper we are a shot at beating Sydney but they are a hard team to place and they'll have us on the rebound from a Perth trip.

Can't see us beating Hawthorn.

On this basis I'm thinking maybe 2 more wins.

We both know you you read it....;) That's why you're upset. You have no critical thinking and you deal with conflict in a cowardly way (pictures, claims of negativity and claims of not reading posts).

Why do you bother commenting at all?

Actually I did not, you know why? Because I don't feel the need to read your opinions, you're a faceless poster, with implausible views ...thats about all. Do me a favour and don't reply... because I wont be.

There you go - reading my posts again... and my views were so implausible that people were agreeing with me.

Some people actually call it as they see it rather than just wanting a positivity party and celebrating every win like it's such a gift for us. IMO, Melbourne took more negatives out of that game than positives. We already knew we had the goods to beat a weakened Essendon line up (no Hille or Gumbleton). We failed to capitalise and hold our focus to close out the match. That's a big negative. If Melbourne become mentally tougher, I'll be the first to congratulate them for it.

Of course, losing would have been even worse... (that much we can agree on)
