I'd prefer the first option - as it would mean we'd had a great year. However, assuming not, I think the coach surf option would be a bit of fun. I suspect we'd end up no better off but it will make for some good headlines.

I think the club would start sounding out the better candidates earlier in the season though.

I can't see any benefits in sacking Frawley midseason. Let's see what he can do for the rest of this year (and give him our support till then) and let him go if he doesn't get the results we want. (If he doesn't perform maybe we can get some good draft picks as compensation anyway).

There should be a good selection of experienced coaches available at the end of this year. I wouldn't mind having Malthouse if he severs ties with Collingwood but I think Sheedy is fast approaching his use by date and would only be a short term option anyway.

Most of all, I would like to see the team perform so well that Danny keeps his job. Unfortunately this doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Spuds shown he has workable tactics, alhtough is not confident enough to stick to it when the chips are down. Also i have always admired wallace and feel he would suit us better than Frawley overral

even though I think danny is a wasted space, we have to keep him for the whole season.

gives the club more respect than dumping the coach mid-season and increases our chances of getting someone decent.

If we don't show some more fight and play some finals, he couldn't possibly given a new contract after 5 years of nothing could he? If he does, here's one member who won't be renewing.

itsintheblood, I know your frustrations but seriously if thousands of people had that attitude your telling me you would rather see Richmond fold all together than still be part of the AFL?

I couldnt think of anything worse than not having Richmond to follow in the footy, I would seriously consider walking away altogether and follow a different code.

Same here!

There is no reason why we couldn't sign someone like Wallace or Eade mid-season with a contract that takes effect on the 1st of October.

There is also no reason why we couldn't have 'informal' discussions with Sheedy during the year.

Also don't be put off with a coaches asking price. Funnily enough, Coaches actually pay there own way. Someone like Sheedy or Wallace in the coaching box is very marketable and companies will be willing to use them as advertising space.

As it is, Laguna Keys cover Spud's salary for this year - he essentially is coaching and it is costing us nothing!

The heart says sack him now, the head says sack him at the end of the season.

If we sack him now, we've wasted the last 2 seasons. If we can put up with his rubbish for 2 years, we can suck it up for just one more.

PROVIDED THEY'VE ALREADY STARTED THE TALKS FOR A REPLACEMENT WITH PREMIERSHIP CREDENTIALS FOR 2005.

Im happy with option 3 but voted for option 2 for the simple reason.......Im fed up.

Im not concerned with our reputation as coach killers as I dont think
it would effect the decision of a professional coach with foresight
and the capability of moulding a winning game plan(s).

You just need to look at our last 20 years to see we've made
bad decisions as far as appointing coaches,so in a sense these
dismissals are justified.

Wallace could work as a sky-rocket up the ass type tactic, while
admin worked on other options (Sheeds,Malthouse even Matthews)
- every man has his price!

BTW, Can we make Tom Hafey our physical conditioning coach please?

What happens if we do get a good coach such as Sheedy and he fails as well? Do we then look at our playing list? I've always looked at the coach first and said that’s where the problem lies but looking back at it I'm starting to look at the players now. The only thing that makes me think different was when Swoopa was at the club. He just seemed to get the best out of the guys. I think we might have been able to win a GF had they kept him at the club.

Fair call coach but I tell you something, if I was in my job for 5 years and achieved nothing I wouldnt have a job for too long. 5 years is a long time in footy. I'm sick of being the laughing stock of the AFL. I'm finding it really hard to keep my little bloke following the tiges when his mates follow the bombers, saints, pies.....

This year is crunch year for all at the club. Players included.
I believe the club has made a huge mistake in allowing richo to become as big as he has. He's too fat and has slowed right down.
Big mistake and the need to get him fitter. Look at Lynch.

But go on, find Danny's replacement. The guy who'll do a better job than Danny.

What's his name again?

So you are saying Frawley should be retained at the end of the year?.

Most people here are saying that Frawley should be replaced at the end of the year but you seem to think that this is a stupid line of thinking.

After reading your post's bitter posts for some time it is becoming apparent that your the one who does not have a clue. I'm all for people have a difference of opinion, especially when its about how our club is going to get out of the hole it is in, but I can't stand it when people like you think they are gods gift to football posting sites and try and make a mockery of other posters.

Not at all. I've got a problem when I'm called an Idiot because I don't think Frawley is going to win us a Premiership.

DDT, any current AFL coach would do a better job than Frawley. We've got the bottom of the barrel. And if you knew anything about footy, you'd also no that no other AFL team would have Frawley coaching them. The Saints even refused to interview him for an assistants job. We're have you been? Watching Auskick every week?

Blackcat, that's the first decent post you've put up. Yes, we were closer to being a consistent top 4 side under Swooper than at any other time in the past 20 years. And yes the list he had wasnt that flash either. Thats what good coaches do- get the best out of their team every week. Have you seen Frawley do that over the past 2 years???

We've struggled ever since because we rushed every coaching appointment ever since Swooper and always under pressure. We pushed Swoop out and were caught by surprise when the board realised he had an offer from Brisbane. We then had to rush the appointment of Walls who was well past it (if he ever had it), and what a disaster that was. We sacked Walls after getting thumped by 150 points by both the bombers and crows, and had to rush in Geishen who was totally inexperienced for a senior role.

That's why most people are voting to sack Frawley at the end of the year and use the rest of this year to woo the right coach with a premiership background. Not many people would argue against Sheedy. And if he gets the dream run we gave Frawley, he's a much better and proven option to do with us what he did with the bummers, than Frawley ever can be. If you cant see that, you wont ever see your first premiership.
