I might be going against everyone barr Carlton supporters but I don't mind the place.

As an AFL member, you get the best seats in the house every week, and even if your not an AFL member, if you get to the ground ealry enough you can get a pretty good seat on the bottom tier of the Legends stand. FOR ONLY YOU ENTRY FEE.

I don't find parking a problem, and think it is an excellent seeing ground.

I guess I like it because Geelong haven't lost to Carlton there since 1995, when we lost by 3 points, so recently my experiences have been good.

Maybe because I am used to Shell Stadium, Optus Oval doesn't seem like such a change from the ordinary. Whereas if you play the most of your games at the MCG, Colonial and last year Waverley, Optus Oval must seem like a dump. For me that isn't the case.

I'd like to know what people thought of Kardinia Park, I guess people think that's a hole too.

Optus Oval - Hole
Shell Stadium - Even worse
Moorabbin - Heaven!

I wish I was old enough to fully appreciate the Animal Enclosure!

Now gocatsgo, I suppose you will be wanting to know why I hate it.

I hate Shell Stadium (or KKK Park as it was referred to on the saints forum) because I am fundamentally against a ground that forces away supporters into having to stand in the forward pocket or else pay $33 for a reserved seat. Even Colonial offers walk up seats at the general admission price!

Yes, you may refer to it as a suburban ground but you know perfectly well that it is nothing like the old days where you could stand virtually anywhere. It is no different from any of the other stadiums with a lot of it taken up by corporate seating.

The ground also lacks atmosphere.

Just my two cents worth.

In my opinion the Stairs, walkways and associated fencing at shell staduim are inadequate and there would be injuries if a capacity crowd were to turn up. The worst part is some of these things were erected last year. Optus oval too has Wooden stands and some access problems. They would be improved or bulldozed if they were in the UK, no doubt about it.

Carlton v Collingwood at optus could be a disaster waiting to happen

Ironically Waverley is an extremely safe and comfortable stadium, which also has more than a few blades of grass (unlike colonic stayed) yet is lying unloved.

Are we supposed to be the lucky country ?

You are exactly right sainter,

Shell Stadium lacks atmosphere there is no doubt about that. It used to have a great atmosphere before the seats were put in on the outer wing. People would cram in and you could expect a crowd of 25,000 each week, it's just not happening at the moment.

Even when the club was winning at the start of the year, the atmosphere was lacklustre to say the least. The atmosphere is good only when it is a close game and Geelong are coming from behind in the last qtr, like Collingwood last year.

The ground has lost something in the last few years but it's still our home and we love it.
