If he has a good year and stays injury free then he'd be worth more under contract in a trade than what we get via free agency compensation. 2 first rounders as opposed to 1. Problem would be almost no-one would be able to get 2 first rounders these days, least not someone trying to add him for a premiership tilt like a Brisbane or Sydney.
Teams will be able to trade two years in advance, so could bank future firsts.

Hope there was no issue with him today his movement was poor
He rely too much getting the over the top mark
He was the same vs Richmond, I'm not too optimistic about his future. I also don't know how we could approach the development of J. Williams and A. Reid while also trying to maintain the FA value of Oscar

Have heard that he’s likely gone at this stage unless we up the offer a lot.
Not such a bad position to be in. Oscar lasts a full season, we are more likely up the offer. If not, he delivers up a major chunk to get The Chad. The control is still in our hands. The beauty about the restricted part of RFA

If someone's offering a band 1 level contract for Allen, him leaving could be a great outcome. Perfect example of an asset being worth more to a bidding party than to us.

I'd mostly be concerned about the morale effect of a captain leaving.

It will 100% be band 1 offer. He’s restricted free agent so it’s either the other team lose 2 first round picks (or top 10 pick) or a bit extra cap room.

We've won 10 games in three years and last year were losing to Geelong by 100 at half time. Whatever morale hit we take I don't think it'll get any lower than what it's currently been.

And it'd show the club finally making a tough choice for once. It might very well play out like Yeo last year. We get deep into the year and both parties work it out in the end.

Someone summed it up best recently....Maybe David King? If the club really want to keep him, they will.

If theres no concerns about his body, the appropriate money/length of contract will be given.

We really shouldn’t be worried about this one way or the other.

We have Archer AReid and Shanahan who look like they really could be players and fit the age profile of the list we are building.

If he leaves we likely get a top six, maybe a top four pick, have drafted players who can (over time) replace him, and have three firsts to get Warner and continue building our list.

If he stays, we keep our captain…

The only scenario that would be bad is if we soar up the ladder and win a final this year.

A top four or top 6 player for a guy who has durability issues and was drafted as a second round pick is a good return.

I don't think you could consider this a bad scenario...

We are a better team with a fully fit Oscar Allen in it. If he's not fit though he probably isn't getting a contract that would trigger band 1 compo.

Leave it until mid season bye at the earliest and see how he's tracking.
Trade him to Hawthorn, get sam and his wife to talk to him

Think that tells us plenty about the knee. Trying to get a big payday with a long term deal before it’s too late.

I understand trying to get fair value but this is the club he grew up supporting in his home town, so something is up a) if we don’t want to pay, and b) he’s not trying to make it work.

I would rather fully fit and roaring Oscar that any single draft pick.

What does a fully fit and roaring Oscar even mean?

He’s played over ninety games, has kicked four or more goals on just seven occasions, and only five occasions when he was the primary target.

He’s kicked more than four goals on one occasion, when he kicked five as a third tall against Collingwood in four years ago.

Sounds good considering the delivery or lack of recently.

Pretty much the same story as Waterman trying to break in with Kennedy and Darling running around

Hopefully Archer already get games this year. Jobe seems to look comfortable in defence.
If Jack Williams proves to be capable of being a regular goalkicker, then we'll have Waterman, Archer & Williams as the regular key forwards. Livingstone is another option if he comes on.
