I’d be playing the second ruck to try and break Gawn down and have Cameron that bit fresher in the last quarter as a result.

The fact it’s Steene and not Cox is giving the kid the line of sight of what’s required to go against the best but the real benefit for me is a fresher Cameron in the last.

Steene been monstered by VFL ruckman. Playing him against Gawn would almost be tanking

Where he would prob just go up against dees second ruck
I doubt it happens this week though but possible one of the early games after the bye

Agreed.
My point was more about him not coming into the side as a ruckman.
If he can become a better forward, it makes sense to use him like we did with Coxy and DC (originally).
Sure beats risking our forwards who have to learn how to ruck effectively, (and safely).
 
I wouldn't like him to debut against Gawn. Talk about a baptism of fire! But I feel for Darcy battling against him all day in the wet. I feel like we should've had another ruck in with a lot of stoppages expected!

It’s going to be a big day for Cameron, but I reckon he’s up for the challenge. McStay will be able to provide some relief.

No way Steene should debut against Gawn, and Cox would be a liability in these conditions.
 
Are we backing ourselves in to list management corners giving two year extensions to Oscsar, HDM etc

Like how St kilda tried to poach him from us during the 2023 SSP preseason, I was told he had rival interest, so we were determined to ward that off by rewarding him with 2 years.
He's having a good year so he deserves it, and now doesn't have to worry about his contract for a couple years and focus on building up in the gym and working on his craft

I've read here and there that he's played down back lately and been doing well.
Defender VFL stats aren't too accessible.
What's the opinion from those watching the VFL matches on this move?

Smit is playing in defence. Not Oscar.
But his game against southport was impressive.
 
JUST PLAY HIM

In really good Form at VFL Level

Not as only Ruck as that be Nuts but be a Forward that Chops out in the Ruck
