This goes way deeper than a few viagra pills that he got busted with today. Refused a blood test too. Doesn't Ice and what not cause a loss of virility?

Reported that Chick and Cousins are definitely in the poop. Kerr recently implicated according to 7 and reported this arvo that Braun was arrested too.

Could be more.

So in one fell swoop they could be without their three best midfielders. That'd kill off any chance of a west coast "dynasty" that's for sure.
 
Now hopefully it's obvious to all as to why Judd left....home sick.. :rolleyes: yeah right.

He thinks they're a bunch of jerk-off's the way the club handled the whole drug issue over the past 2-3 years... he got out of there as soon as he could & good on him for doing that.

Chick's the worst of the lot, he just doesn't get caught.

We all love to bag WC but I think it would be a pretty safe bet to say that every other club in the competition would have done the same thing. They had a list that was on the verge of dynasty and young talent that was going to make them a force for years to come. Do you honestly think other clubs would have done much differently in the same position?!

I think not ;)

Shit if this had happened 2 years ago we would have had back to back premierships. West Coast were the bane of our 05 and 06 campaigns, we would have had no trouble knocking off Sydney in the GFs, and Benny Cousins is one of the main reasons why we never reached the GFs.
 
My prediction after the GF was that both the Weagles & Hawks would both fall in '08. At the time I thought the Weagles in the bottom of the top-8 & Hawks would fall into the bottom-8. Now I think both may fall into the bottom-8 - if Kerr is also involved.
 
If the crows were on the brink of a dynasty with the management and coach we have at the moment...I have no doubts in my mind if there were players ****ing around doing the nasties they would have got all the help possible a.s.a.p

West Coast swept it under for awhile and ignored it for a year or two. Then after that they got the players the help....that to me is not good enough, you help/fix the player for the benefit of the players well-being...not the team.

Apparently his cars are getting searched as we speak, sounds like the coppers are onto WCE imo.

Lets just not make definitive statments about this. Clubs are notorious for sweeping thinkgs under the carpet when it comes to their star players.

I know I cringe every time scandal like this comes up because you always think it could be my club. A bunch of young blokes with shitloads of money and too much time on their hands = recepie for disaster.

This whole business with Cousins gives me very mixed feelings today.

Part of me says he is nothing but a drug cheat finally getting his well-deserved come-uppance.

And he does deserve it.

The other part of me feels really sad because we are watching a human being destroying his life publicly. He is disintegrating rapidly away from being a normal rational thinking human being - and may never return to being one.

One fears that he may end up like Mainwaring if not given some assistance while taking his well-deserved punishment.

Even if his future is not that drastic we are seeing a lot more than the end of a football career unfolding before our eyes.

It is a sad story in a lot of ways. No doubt his AFL career in now well and truly over but I do hope that WCE, AFL and the AFLPA do give him the support needed to get himself back on track. Relapse is not unusual in these cases and I honestly though that what happened to Mainy would seriously test Ben's mental strength in trying to beat this thing. Unfortunatly, it appears that it was too much for him to handle and he turned to the thing that can make him temporarily zone out of it!

How long was he in rehab for?

4 weeks?

Terminate his contract and just send him back. And don't bring him back after 4 weeks!

Was that negligent on behalf of the WCE, or did he come back of his own accord?
 
This is more sad than anything. I hope he gets his life in order but i know a couple of people who are ice addicts and its a terrible drug. Worse than Heroin as far as addictiveness goes. They lose all common sense

I would be going 100 miles an hour for him if the WCE sack him (or as has been intimated) ask him to resign today so he and the club can save face. Pick him up in the PSD.

I would offer him an incentive based contract and if he can stay out of trouble he will earn more, if not he will earn minimum wages.

What have we got to lose? IMO not much as we all know he is troubled and we will not have to give anything up for him. If he turns himself around, we have picked up a superstar player, if he stuffs up again we sack him and have lost nothing.

I believe he is trying to clean himself up but staying in Perth for Chris Mainwaring funeral and a few other temptation have gotten the better of him. He needs to get out of Perth for his own health and wellbeing even if it has nothing to do with AFL football.

Do it Crows – go after Benny.

If Richmond, Carlton or any other Victorian based club say they will pick him up, he can say no as its not in his best interested to play for a Victorian based club. Ultimately he will have to agree (and if he wasn’t physically or mentally ready to do) to any club picking him up and if he wasn’t willing they would be stupid. If they still picked him up and he didn’t want to do it, he just walks away as and quits football all together.

Of course he would have to want to do it and pass a few tests but going to live in Melbourne would be just as bad as Perth. IMO if he wanted to play AFL football next year Adelaide (and Brisbane) would be the two safe states to play because we don’t have such an active night life as Perth and especially Melbourne.

If he moved to Melbourne he would be 10 times bigger than he currently is because he will be seen as a saviour (especially to Richmond supporters and sponsors), here he will get the same sort of attention but we can limit this just as we did with Carey.
 
Recipe for Ben Cousins;

take 1 schoolage kid, give him instant stardom and far too much money.
Now put him under incredible pressure and scrutiny.
mix this with media attention and no private life.
Expect him to perform at an elite level, training 6 days a week without any signs of hangover, excess fat fold (which will be tested weekly) or into the sweat room until you vomit into the bucket kept by the "touture bike".
Now expect media smarts, social apropriateness and exemplatory standrards of ethical behavior to be demonstrated..................leave to bake.............

How many Ben Cousins are already out there in the system, but just not quite cracked yet?

I hate drugs and have witnessed many OD's and deaths from them, most people addicted to them are trying to escape reality or numb their pain. This guy is hurting and caught up in culture which is responsable for his creation.
