Nah the ramp is gone. I think it got replaced with a new drama theater.

The school has changed so much since I left though. A couple of months ago I had to go into AHS for some work related stuff and the place looks SO much different to what it was 8-9 years ago.

My old match teacher Mr Black (huge crows fan) recognised me and with a smirk on his face he yelled out "Where is your school uniform young man?!"

 Mr Black?!?! OMG Is he still there? I remember him, he taught me Pure Maths in Year 11, I remember he was really good friends with Mr.Boyle who I had as a home class teacher in Year.12 and for Maths 1 in Year 12, that was such a bludge, he always used to send my friends and me to the canteen during double maths to buy him chocolate muffins he he.

Yep Mr. Black is still there. He is now assistant principal IIRC. One of the best teachers. Did he bang his head against the blackboard in your class when everyone was talking and he wanted your attention?! :D

Mr. Boyle was my maths teacher in year 9 and 10. He was great :thumbsu:

Wow, he's assistant principal? Good on him, he'd be a cool assistant principal. He he yeah he did and he used to always talk about his daughter and show us photos of her. We used to ask him about her all the time so we could distract him and get out of doing work :p

Are you going to post a picture of Gerald Cornelius? I work with his mum would you believe!!

You must have known Matty Black as well Stiff. Big deaf fellah, who coached the U16 footy teams and went to school there too.
yerr i know matty black worked with him at woolworths for a while, great bloke, got real funny when he used to get on the public announcer and have a go at our boss who was his good mate.

as for my schooling went to henley high, but as i finished in 2005, havnt known many famous people yet, but there certainly will be, ken mcgregor and nathan bock did go there, iszac thompson who was on the bulldogs list 2 years ago also...this year paul stewart and brad geddes are chances at getting drafted

I feel left out because I didnt go to Adelaide high. :(

I once took 2/13 playing cricket there after getting out for 2 to the most arsiest catch you will ever see...does that count? :D

He used to have a desk in one of the classrooms with photos of his kids flat on the bench top and glass over the top. He was brilliant. I remember we had a maths test and one of my mates who was sitting next to me was trying to copy me. Mr. Black was writing something on his desk and even without lifting his head he just said out "XXXXX you are going to get a REALLLLLYYYYY big headache if you keep looking accross like that"

Mr. Black's classes were always entertaining :thumbsu:

Location: Ramsgate - Incorrect.

Didn't they slap a 3 month ban on you for being an annoying chop?

I went to Saint Michaels @ Henley Beach. Great school. Yr 11 and 12 best two years of my life.

was in year eight when Scotty Thompson, Matty Lokan, Daniel Lees, Brett Ebert, Vinnie Rugolo and ROc Harry all played for the First XVIII, winning the knockout cup.

Other St Micks boys included Warren Treadrea, Michael Wilson, Greg Anderson and Scott Camporeale

That makes sense of course, because when they had the entrance exam it assured that they only took the cream of the students.

When I went there all prospective students had to sit the entrance exam, and as a result the school dominated the state results.

It was more of a semi-college really with pretty high standards not only in education but also in behaviour.

I loved the school, even if I did get the cuts a few times (deservedly). :D

5 of the best years of my life. :thumbsu:

Was Soapy Symons still there in your time and Jeff Pash teaching latin?

Was Soapy Symons still there in your time and Jeff Pash teaching latin?

Definitely had Jeff Pash as a teacher, but my recollection was that it was for French. Could have been for Latin as well. Bloody good teacher too for a Magarey Medallist.

Not sure about Soapy Symons though - was he the principal?? Browny was the deputy principal and I knew him and his office pretty well as I seemed to have a permanent appointment there. :o

I set a record when I was in my second year there for the number of cuts with the cane in one go from Browny.

I had long hair which he did not like so he gave me the cost of a haircut and suggested that I get my hair cut. I spent the money on a pasty and lollies. The next day he called me into his office and exploded that I had not had my hair cut although he had given me money the day and told me to get my hair cut.

Whe I responded that while I acknowledged that he had given me the money he had not told me to get my hair cut, he had only suggested it, he went troppo!! :D

The usual choice of a selection of six of the best on one of your left hand, right hand or backside went out the window, and I copped six of the best on all three - 18 in total.

I sent him right into orbit by remaing poker faced all through this and on the way out saying "thank you sir!!" :D

For some strange reason, I was never a favourite of his!! :p
