guys with talent get the value inflated with potential. when they play, they have to maintain that same level of potential to maintain their value.

just because they played, and just because they did ok, doesn't mean they maintained their value.

when a guy gets his first extended run in the team, everyone gets the chance to evaluate them more accurately. when this happens, some guys go up, some go down.

Yeah granted. And to be honest, I can't draw a line through his value. But you have to factor team needs into a player's value too. If Adelaide thought he was worth #17 last year, you have to think looking to next year, your forward stocks are depleted with Hentschel out, and Perrie's turning 28 coming off a very ordinary end of year, even allowing for the injury. So is the need greater? From White's point of view, he had his first real opportunity and he showed improvement on what he's shown in the past. Now Perrie's career best year was at 26, White is 23, so you would anticipate further improvement in him. Those are the factors that have to be weighed. What would you have given for Ted Richards? Paul Roos thought he was worth a first round pick, and he's a fair judge. It really comes down to where you think a player fits in with what you want and what he's worth to you. If you guys think Adelaide won't think he's worth around the same as last year, I'll take you at your word, you know your club a lot better than me.

If we manage to offload Thurstans, any talk on White is just moot discussion anyway.
