The only problem with that thinking is that Brisbane can't shaft him. He is contracted to them and the only way a trade can take place is if he agrees to it. Brisbane won't him gone but I am sure he would be quite happy to stay at Brisbane and pick up a large sum of money for doing sweet **** all ;)
You reckon? Away from the cameras and bright, shinning lights? He made a tearful call to Vossy to ask the players to reconsider their decision after they all voted him out because he wanted to play footy. There is no way Aker will sit on his bum for a whole year.

BTW, he was sitting on the past winners table for a while, before roaming the room and acting like a twit. He was sitting between McLeod and Goodwin at one stage. You don't want him do you? :D

i saw him on the footy show. for people who think he is stupid, think again. he has completely outfoxed brisbane. all three parties (both clubs and the player) must agree on a trade, he has a contract so cannot be dropped. so it is now in brisbane's best interest to trade him for whatever the bulldogs offer! the lions wont want a player on their list who they will not play (he'd play if they let him), especially one like aker who would be sucking up funds that could be used for other quality players. so basically he has left brisbane with no choice but to trade him to the doggies for whatever they see fit (a 3rd rounder perhaps). VERY clever!

He reminds me of a Paul Gasgoine type ( at least PG had the good grace not to bag his clubs )- a natural introvert trying to act like an extrovert. The problem is when they do eventually crash, they normally crash in a big way.

yeah careful with that, brisbane could just say stuff him we wont trade him to where he wants to go and if he wotn go where we ay we are happy to see him remain without him ever playing for us again, they might have to pay his remaining contract throughout the year but hewould have to sit a year of footy because they wont pick him. That would almost kill his career.

and for the record he was on a brownlow medalist table but aker being aker made himself available to most clubs.

I had never thought of that before. People who are unsure of themselves I guess. Like the kid at school who was always playing up because they did not understand the lesson.

That's what I hope they do. No player is bigger than the club.

At least he backs up his actions. He does lack class off the field, but he has enough on the field to make me not really bothered.

Has there ever been a more classless piece of work to grace a football field.

On the footy show last week and at the Bownlow tonight he had another cheap shot at Leigh Matthews. He seems to forget that Brisbane still have a huge say in where he plays next year. I just hope Brisbane shaft him and he ends up anywhere but The Doggies, no disrepect to The Doggies.

He's a perfect example of the player thinking he is bigger than the club.
I saw his performance on the footy show and I thought he handled himself well. I think he is a class act...regardless of what others think.

He meant a couple of years back when Roo just missed out and the Port function cheered when he didnt get votes in the last round which could have won it for the Roo

hahaha

I dont remember that, but the patheticness of that mob never fails to surprise me.

"He feels let down by his club" ahhh poor little Aka. You're right there are two sides to every story but unfortunately the little "whoa was me" Aker can only see one side. What does he expect. Name another player who has publically rubbished his club and coach in the media as much as Akermanis has. Even if Matthews was a little tough with him, that's no excuse. If it was, half the players who played under Blight, Chocco etc should be writing their memoirs.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying what does it matter?

He feels a certain way, and is obviously sticking to his convictions. whether he's right or wrong is irrelevant, in the same situation (i.e. we believe we are in the right, and are under unfair fire) we would all like to think we would stand our ground.
