Love to get Mal, but he is a QLDer and may not want to leave home again now that he has settled back in. I'd be amazed if he left - who have they got to replace him? If he did go, you'd hope they would send him to a good club like ours after the service he has put in up there.

Another Brisbane player that may be worth looking at is ruckman Dylan McLaren. Would the AFC be interested in him?
Good post Jerome.

Michael was keen to return to Qld as part of the Molloy trade, so he would have to be seriously under-valued to consider moving.

Also, McLaren may be worth considering if he came cheap, as he would give us a backup option to Biglands/Clarke whilst we develop a young draftee.

McLaren is only 194 cm. Why would we want an undersized ruckman??????

If Brisbane do decide to let michael go as is suggested in the article then he can't exactly stay in QLD.

Surely you know my answer by now Stiffy - anything to get rid of Marsh. :p BTW, he look taller than 194cm to me.

True. All I was saying is that IMO, he would agree to slightly less money to stay in Brisbane. If there is a significant difference, he would consider his options.

LOL, even Barnaby French????:p afl.com has him at 194 cm

Possibly BUT surely we MUST have a crack at him. Just imagine how much stronger our team would be with him. He is exactly what the doctor ordered;)

AFL Record states that he is 196, perhaps a couple of cms shorter than what we would like. 196 is still not too bad, should be able to hold down a key possie.

So what will it cost us to get this Mclaren Lad????? If we can lets go for it develope him into a GOOD ruckman???Has he played at AFL level????? How old is he????

194cms isnt too bad ;)

I think if we have to off load a big name to get Ottens then have a crack at him too, Mal Michael could be worth a crack at too, I say part with a few big names and get players that are going to benefit our side, we shoudl just keep players on who they are, get rid of them while their value is up;)

Bassett maybe? Played 6 games in 2001-2, 22 in May, 196cm, 91kg. Anyone who plays for Brisbane has a good body.

As for Ottens, would need Goodwin & Bassett
Michael would need a top 6 draft pick, Maybe Bassett/Perrie & first round pick

haha didak for stevens... that like when the bulldogs tried to trade us scott west for a 20 year old chris tarrant. stevens is good, but he isnt in the top 10 midfielders in the league IMO. didak only just signed this year anyway, meaning you cant trade him. hopefully we pass on stevens and go for brown, solomon or a lion.

For Collingwood to get him, it will be Didak and their first round.
I think this will be what happens.
don't forget carlton are in the mix, and they could lever him off in the pre-season draft or lay down a dodgy trade on that threat ala Luke McPharlin a couple of years ago.

you can trade resigned players at the moment, that rule isn't in yet.

that's precisely what I think it would take one of those boys and a draft pick. Brisbane can't take back salary really, so they need a job done and some youth. Basset or perrie could do a job cheap (er) and a draft pick which costs them stuff all on the cap.

but why would Michael want to come here or Perrie go to queensland? trading players to a 3rd state i.e. not where they are, or their home state seems a fraught prospect.

Can't see Brisbane being interested in Perrie when they have Lynch, Brown, Bradshaw & even Leppitsch who can play up forward. However, if the cap is the main issue for losing Michael (if it eventuates), then someone like Bassett may be a reasonable cheaper solution (as Leppa can still play on the bigger players).
