That doesnt really sound logical. It must mean that every other single ruckmen in the AFL won the hitouts at exacty 50% each.

If Ottens' is Mr Big with 51% that means there can be no lower than 49% meaning everyone else is 49-50% which would seem to imply that ruck contests are pretty much a strictly 50-50 match up every single time (except when Mr 51% plays) therefore completley nullifying the need or purpose of ruckman all together.
Quite obviously there are hitout contests where there is no clear winner. This doesn't preclude the contest from being counted in the statistics as a hitout contest. For instance, it could be that 20-30% of ruck contests are neither clearly won by any opponent. But Ottens 51% clearly shows he won more than his opponent taking this into account.

Comprehende idiota?

Well said Austin. He's a good ruckman, that's all there is to it. But he's got to play there a lot more often. Hopefully one M.Thompson gets that same message.

Yeah the idiot status still stands. I never said he was the most effective ruckman. That's you misunderstanding the argument. I said he got his hand to the ball the most of any ruckman as a % of the contests he competed in, you know beat his opponent to the hitout. There are plenty other criteria that go into analysing a ruckmans effectiveness other than getting the hitout. I never even mentioned whether they were classified as hitouts to advantage or not.

I know you wont understand anything i've said, so enjoy your nintendo hour tonight and I hope mum and dad allow you to stay up to watch the game. :thumbsu:

Brad Ottens is now officially the biggest DUD in the AFL, he has overtaken Mark Bolton and of course former AFL player A.Hennemen. Ottens is a waste of money and space for Geelong, a big fella like him should be instilling confidence in the team but instead his lack of performance is the start of the cancer that is infecting his team. Yes i do blame Ottens, we have all played in teams where a big forward never delivers and it hurts you everywhere. DITCH HIM THOMMO
Geelong are a dud.
